Seasonal Part Time In Room Dining Server at The Langham Chicago

PRIMARY OBJECTIVE OF POSITION:Delivers food and beverage orders to guest rooms according to hotel specifications, courteously and efficiently.  Also assists in the maintenance of the In-Room Dining area and equipment. Service private in room meals according to fine dining room standards.RESPONSIBILITIES AND JOB DUTIES:Maintain complete knowledge of all liquor brands, beers and non-alcoholic selections available in In-Room Dining.Maintain knowledge of the particular characteristics and description of every wine/champagne by the glass and major wines on the wine list.Maintain complete knowledge of designated glassware and garnishes for drinks.Maintain complete knowledge of all menu items, preparation method, ingredients, sauces, preparation time, garnishes, presentation and prices.Maintain complete knowledge of guest room layout, locations and room numbers/names.Maintain complete knowledge and strictly abide by state liquor regulations, particularly those prohibiting service to minors, intoxicated persons and drunk driving.Maintain complete knowledge of correct maintenance and use of equipment, use equipment only as intended.Maintain knowledge of Micros and manual systems.Answer In-Room Dining phone within 3 rings, using correct salutations and telephone etiquette.Complete opening and closing side duties as assigned.Set up and deliver amenities to designated rooms.Monitor and maintain cleanliness, sanitation and organization of all service areas, guest rooms and guest corridors following procedures laid down in departmental standards.AM - Set up and deliver doorknob orders.PM - Collect doorknob menus from guest rooms.Follow maintenance program and cleaning schedule.Report duty as scheduled by direct supervisor according to operating hours.Provide maximum levels of guest service while maintaining Langham Hospitality Group standards.Be fully versed in all Forbes service standards.Other duties as assigned by direct supervisor.PHYSICAL DEMANDS:Ability to exert physical effort in transporting trays and tables from service area to guests.Ability to endure abundant physical movements throughout the work areas.SPECIAL SKILLS REQUIRED:Ability to understand guests' service needs.Ability to be well organized, maintain concentration and think clearly when providing service to guest rooms within any given period of time.Ability to focus on details.Ability to maintain good coordination while serving orders quickly.Ability to perform job functions with minimal supervision.Ability to work cohesively with co-workers as part of a team.EDUCATION REQUIRED:High school graduate, some college preferred.EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:Two years' experience as an In-Room Dining Server.LICENSES OR CERTIFICATES:Food and alcohol handling certificates.SALARY RANGE: $11.06-$13.82/hour, plus service charge and discretionary gratuities BENEFITS INCLUDED FOR PART-TIME, ON CALL, AND TEMPORARY COLLEAGUES:Vacation Pay and Sick/Personal time (in accordance with Chicago Paid Leave and Paid Sick Leave Law)401k plan with Roth option (Employer match up to 4% after one year of employment)Pet Insurance, ID Theft Protection Coverage, Prepaid Legal (available for purchase)Free meals while on dutyUniforms and cleaning of uniforms (for applicable positions)Free and discounted hotel staysDiscounted parkingEOE, Including Disability/Veterans About Langham Hospitality Group A wholly owned subsidiary of Great Eagle Holdings, Langham Hospitality Group (LHG) comprises a family of distinctive brands, including The Langham Hotels and Resorts, Cordis Hotels and Resorts, Eaton Workshop and Ying’nFlo.
