Director, Cardiovascular Research Institute School of Medicine University of California, San FranciscoThe School of Medicine at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF School of Medicine) seeks an outstanding individual to lead its internationally recognized Cardiovascular Research Institute. The successful candidate will have a national reputation as a visionary leader in academic medicine and the field of cardiovascular research, with strong administrative and organizational skills. The individual chosen will hold responsibility for the overall direction of this distinguished Institute and will:Act collaboratively and make decisions based on what will bring the greatest benefit to the Institute, the School, and the overall institution, balancing the needs of the institute with the needs of the School and UniversityActively promote an environment that welcomes and fosters a variety of experiences and perspectivesActively foster a climate that is supportive of professional development and mentoring for faculty, staff and learnersPromote teamwork both within an institute and between/among other institutes and Departments in all aspects of academic and clinical functionsActively foster collaborations with relevant Divisions in the Department of Medicine (e.g., Cardiology, Pulmonary, etc.), Department of Surgery (e.g., Cardiothoracic Surgery, Vascular Surgery, etc.), Department of Pediatrics (e.g., Pediatric Cardiology, Neonatology, etc.) and other basic science Departments and work closely/collaboratively with their leadersServe as a role model for the Institute by demonstrating commitment to the School’s and the University’s core values and idealsUphold the University’s Code of Conduct, demonstrating the highest ethical and professional standards, respect and concern for individuals and the institution, and promoting personal and professional responsibility and accountability in all activitiesCultivate relationships across the campus among other departments and schools, across the UC System, and with colleagues at national and international levels; andWork collaboratively with San Francisco and Bay Area community leaders to identify learning and research opportunities that will benefit all.An MD, PhD (or equivalent degree) is required. See Table 5. The minimum base salary range for this position is $145,500 -$429,000.
