Job Description

The Director Financial & Investment Risk is accountable to ensure alignment to the Companys risk appetite regulatory requirements as well as business objectives. As part of the 2nd Line of Defense this position will work within the broader ERM group to advance the risk management practice through staying informed of industry trends and advance analytics. The position will be This position will interact with stakeholders from many functions including but not limited to Finance Investments Retail/Institutional Corporate Actuarial and Audit.The Director Financial & Investment Risk will report to the VP Financial & Investment Risk and will establish partnership throughout the organization to provide a risk lens to Finance and Investment initiatives.Duties and ResponsibilitiesManage assess mitigate and monitor Financial & Investment risk across the Company in collaboration with Finance and Investments teamSupport the decision making process for product rate actions and product development to ensure risks are identified and consideredConsult and collaborate with risk owners to reaffirm/identify/assess/monitor Key Risk IndicatorsEnhance stress testing and economic capital framework through collaboration with actuarial ALM teamSupport M&A and reinsurance efforts through scenario analysis and thought leadershipEnhance and reduce risk on the multi-year planning process through stress testing gap analysis and controls through partnership with FP&APartner with Investments on asset portfolio optimization and hedging needs to ensure compliance with investment guidelines/limits and risk tolerancesUnlock the value of big data (i.e. Bloomberg Aladdin and CapIQ) and provide additional insights to the Company to support risk aware decision makingWork closely with Investment Portfolio Analytics and external asset managers to report on portfolio metrics provide analytical insights and identify emerging risksSupport the creation of presentation materials for internal committeesEvaluate best practice risk modeling credit modeling and stress testing frameworksProduce ad-hoc analytics as requestedExperience and Education RequirementsBachelors degree in finance economics actuarial science or related fieldMinimum of 8 years of experience with a minimum of 5 years of experience in risk management actuarial investments and/or finance within a life insurance companyCFA FRM and/or actuarial designation preferredExperience with life/annuity liabilitiesExperience with complex investment portfoliosUnderstanding of STAT and GAAP accounting and reservingUnderstanding of life insurance regulatory requirements (NAIC BMA CIMA)Knowledge Skills and AbilitiesStrong knowledge of investment and financial risk managementDemonstrated experience in risk modeling stress testing and scenario analysisAbility to increase model efficiencies through process optimizationAbility to manage competing prioritiesAbility to influence at all levels across the organizationExperience implementing/establishing controlled processesExperience in model risk management a plusProficient knowledge of actuarial modeling softwareProficient knowledge of software used for investment and financial analysis such as Bloomberg Aladdin FactSet and Capital IQProven ability to quickly learn and take ownership of internal processesExcellent interpersonal written and oral communication skillsPragmatic and able to pivot as needed team player who is comfortable working in a dynamic and fast paced entrepreneurial environmentOther RequirementsPerform other functions duties and projects as assignedRegular and punctual attendanceMinimal travel required (less than 10%)#IND-HP#LI-MK1#LI-RemoteAdditional Information Work EnvironmentsF&G believes in an employee-centric flexible environment which is why we offer the ability for in-office hybrid and remote work arrangements.
