Growing together.The Associate Director, Medicare Policy, will support External Affairs' efforts to advance policy solutions related to Medicare Advantage in support of UnitedHealth Group's advocacy priorities and to advance our mission.Primary Responsibilities:Monitor, analyze and report on federal Medicare legislation, regulations, and policy developments in the areas of Medicare Advantage, Medicare supplemental insurance, Part D redesign, Medicare reform proposals (e.g., Medicare for All), and other Medicare topicsLead strategic monitoring and analysis of Congressional hearings and key agency and stakeholder engagements to inform organizational priorities and decision-makingDevelop and drive Congressional office-specific messaging and advocacy strategies, crafting high-impact materials and guiding engagement efforts with Congress and the AdministrationLead the analysis of key Medicare think tank and thought leader activitiesPartner cross-functionally to direct and coordinate advocacy strategy during the Medicare Advantage rate notice and technical rule cycles, ensuring timely, impactful engagement with policymakers and stakeholdersLead policy research and industry analysis to identify emerging environmental trends and shape internal strategic initiativesDevelop official correspondence, thought leadership content, presentations, and policy updates to advance strategic objectivesLead coordination of cross-functional initiatives to advance External Affairs advocacy priorities, aligning teams and resources to maximize impactEstablish relationships with colleagues across the enterprise to ensure coordinated engagement on health policy issues and effectively ensure consistency of messagingFacilitate internal working groups, including deployment of comprehensive strategies and tactics, to achieve UnitedHealth Group's policy and advocacy prioritiesYou'll be rewarded and recognized for your performance in an environment that will challenge you and give you clear direction on what it takes to succeed in your role as well as provide development for other roles you may be interested in.Required Qualifications:5+ years of experience in health care policy with:Experience monitoring, analyzing, and synthesizing state and/or federal and regulationsUnderstanding of how legislation impacts business goals and ability to articulate these impactsProven excellent interpersonal skills, the ability to build rapport and trust and an affinity for collaborative workDemonstrated industry-wide perspective across the health care sectorDemonstrated superior oral and written communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate complex concepts and programs to senior executivesDemonstrated intellectual curiosity and the ability to gather, assess, and synthesize information from various sourcesDemonstrated solid organizational skills and ability to manage work on multiple projects simultaneouslyDemonstrated ability to anticipate needs and foresee and overcome obstaclesMedicare policy experiencePay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). The salary for this role will range from $132,200 to $226,600 annually based on full-time employment.
