Director, AV Infrastructure and Experience, Enterprise Technology Services
Full-Time, (Hybrid) Boston or Springfield
The Opportunity
As the Director of AV Infrastructure and Experience (AVIX) you will be responsible for the strategy, design, delivery and ongoing operation of the organization's audiovisual (AV) ecosystem and the user experiences it provides. You will balance strategic leadership, operational excellence, stakeholder management and hands-on technical stewardship to ensure reliable, scalable AV technology and high quality user experience across the enterprise.
The Team
You will lead a team of AV design and support, technical event support and solutions architect roles who collaborate to deliver world class AV capabilities and experience to the enterprise. The team is responsible for conference room technology, digital signage, technical support of corporate and executive events, and enterprise media streaming and hosting platforms.
The Impact:
Strategy & Governance- Define and own the enterprise AV strategy, roadmap, and standards that are aligned to business objectives, workplace strategy, and organizational goals.
- Oversee architectural principles and technical standards for conference rooms, event spaces, digital signage, and media platforms.
- Evaluate emerging technologies and solutions, recommending upgrades and innovations to enhance organizational collaboration and communication.
- Serve as the senior authority on AV design, integration, and user experience across all home office locations.
- Direct the design, deployment, lifecycle management, and support of AV technologies, including conference room technology, digital signage, and event space technology.
- Lead the operation and evolution of internal and user-facing AV platforms, ensuring consistency, reliability, and scalability.
- Oversee enterprise media streaming and hosting capabilities, including live streaming, video-on-demand (VOD), and cable television services.
- Ensure high availability, performance, security, and compliance across all AV systems.
- Provide technical leadership and oversight for corporate, executive, and high-visibility events, including town halls, leadership meetings, and receptions.
- Ensure production quality, reliability, and seamless execution for in-person, hybrid, and virtual events.
- Act as a trusted advisor to senior executives on AV experience and presentation strategy.
- Serve as a liaison between stakeholders, external events teams, and technical staff.
- Lead and develop a team of individual contributors in solution architecture, AV design and support, and technical event support.
- Set clear expectations, priorities, and performance goals while fostering technical excellence and accountability.
- Identify skills gaps, manage capacity, and plan for future talent needs.
- Drive a culture of service within the team, fostering a user-first mindset that aims to delight the customer and minimize friction.
- Oversee resource planning to balance day-to-day operations, project delivery, and event support.
- Own and manage a large capital and operating budget, including forecasting, cost optimization, and ROI analysis.
- Lead vendor strategy, contract negotiation, and system integrator relationships.
- As a Supplier Relationship Manager, ensure suppliers are delivering and performing meeting expectations within the terms of contracts.
- Partner with IT, Facilities, Space Design & Utilization, Communications, and Security teams, among others, to align AV solutions with broader enterprise initiatives and ensure stakeholder alignment with AVIX priorities.
- Collaborate with Strategic Communications to support storytelling, engagement, and internal communications objectives.
- Provide executive-level reporting on performance, risk, and roadmap progress.
The Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in information technology, audio engineering, or a related field; or equivalent experience.
- 8+ years of experience in AV technology with proven experience designing and operating large-scale AV or unified communications environments.
- 2+ years of progressive leadership or team lead experience.
- Bi-weekly travel between Boston and Springfield expected.
The Ideal Qualifications
- Industry certifications (e.g., CCNA, AVIXA CTS/CTS-D) are a plus.
- Agile certifications (e.g., CSPO) or demonstrated experience are a plus.
- Strong understanding of AV architectures, signal flow, control systems, streaming technologies, and integration with enterprise IT environments.
- Knowledge or experience supporting executive-level or broadcast-quality events and the technologies required therein.
- Experience managing budgets, vendors, and complex multi-site projects.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively manage stakeholders and end users.
- Demonstrated ability to lead, motivate, and develop a diverse team.
