Job DescriptionJob DescriptionDirector of Behavioral ServicesOverviewWe seek an experienced Director of Behavioral Services to lead psychiatric inpatient and outpatient program operations within a large acute care hospital in the Greater Charlotte, North Carolina/South Carolina region. This leader will be responsible for strategic direction, program development, clinical quality, and operational oversight across all behavioral health services.Working collaboratively with medical staff, nursing leadership, and hospital administration, the Director will evaluate care delivery models, drive performance improvement, and ensure compliance with regulatory standards. This role holds responsibility for budgets, staffing, and execution of behavioral health initiatives aligned with the hospital’s mission and community needs.Key ResponsibilitiesProvide operational and clinical leadership for behavioral health inpatient and outpatient programs.Implement and evaluate standards of psychiatric nursing care and service effectiveness.Lead program development initiatives that address community behavioral health needs.Manage departmental budgets, resource allocation, staffing, and performance management.Collaborate with physician leaders and executive administration to support strategic priorities.Ensure regulatory compliance, survey readiness, and adherence to best practices in behavioral health.Oversee quality improvement initiatives and promote evidence-based care models.Support and mentor behavioral health nursing teams to drive engagement and professional growth.QualificationsEducation:Master’s degree in Nursing or Business Administration required.Experience:Minimum of 5+ years of leadership experience overseeing psychiatric inpatient and outpatient programs in an acute care facility.Licensure:Active and unrestricted multi-state RN license (Compact) required, based on state of residence.If residing in a Compact state and holding an RN license from another Compact state, must convert to home-state multistate license within 30 days.Certifications:American Heart Association BLS required.CPI certification required within orientation period.Compensation & BenefitsCompetitive base salary (target range $135,000 – $170,000).Comprehensive benefits package (medical, dental, vision, retirement).Relocation assistance available for the ideal candidate.Full-time, exempt leadership role.Interview travel reimbursed.Ideal Candidate ProfileWe seek a transformational behavioral health leader with deep experience managing psychiatric services in an acute care environment.
