DescriptionOverview:The Director of Counseling Services is responsible for the oversight management and function of Counseling Services.This is a full-time (40 hours weekly) position that may require some evening or weekend support and may include some on call responsibilities. The salary range for this role is $115000-$125000 annually.About the Department:The Juilliard School seeks an experienced professional to lead the Counseling Services team in a key position supporting Juilliards commitment to the health and wellness of our studentsand the robust range of services and activities provided therein ( In collaboration with the Health Services leadership team the Director of Counseling will oversee the provision of coordinated and integrated clinical services to College Division students facilitate staff meetings and staff consultations related to treatment interventions and management of high risk situations support walk-in requests and crises maintain close collaboration with the staff Psychiatrist as part of treatment planning support and provide supervision of individual and group counseling conduct outreach and consultation interventions for hospitalized students or students in distress manage referral coordination and referral follow-up and participate in on-call duties when required; all while ensuring that services are preventative as well as responsive to the diverse needs of the student population.Working at JuilliardFounded in 1905 The Juilliard School is a world leader in performing arts education. Our organizational values focus on community and culture.We encourage you to read more about how we achieve our mission on our website .Role Responsibilities:Reports directly to the Senior Director Student Health and works closely in ongoing review and evaluation of the clinical and administrative structure evolving budgetary and contractual requirements and any employment-based concerns represented each academic yearOperationalize daily service delivery through the provision supervision and administration of all clinical services in collaboration with the Senior Director Student Health which includes but is not limited to: create and maintain schedule and structure for onsite services provide oversight of service modalities and treatment interventions conduct chart audits and ensure recordkeeping is meeting regulatory standards of care assigns students to clinicians manage accessibility and engagement concerns etc. Hold as priority the psychological health of the students at The Juilliard School by maintaining awareness and training of contemporary psychological and behavioral health trends and themes in the greater healthcare arena as well as track and monitor internal sources of data that inform best practice and care of studentsFacilitate manage and designate team responses to urgent crises or walk insFunction as the liaison to Counseling Service team members including the psychiatrist in serving as the connection between the School and onsite clinics hospital or community services and families on behalf of students experiencing psychiatric difficultiesCollaborates with team members on administrative referrals and arrangements for outside assessment and/or referral as indicatedCoordinates with Health Services clinic staff when indicated for the purpose of following and treating students assessed to be at high risk (i.e. harm to self or others emergent issues requiring acute interventions and/or other conditions that warrant a higher level of medical input)Provides evaluations and recommendations for students seeking accommodations in conjunction with the Office of Accommodation and Disability ServicesProvides evaluations and recommendations for students considering or exhibiting a need for medical leaveand evaluates reports by external mental health providers regarding students on medical leave and their readiness to return to schoolFacilitates referrals for hospital admission of students as well as consultation with hospital staff for discharge planning and the assessment of students readiness to return to schoolProvides individual supervision for all licensed staff in the Counseling Service who require additional supervision as per New York State requirementsResponsible for some direct counseling with students to be determined in collaboration with the Senior Director and in response to evolving student need each academic yearOther relevant duties as assignedMinimum Requirements:Masters degree in Social Work5-7 years of experience working in a clinical healthcare setting.Must hold and maintain NY State licensureExperience working with college students.Excellent organizational communication and writing skills.Managerial and supervisory experience in a clinical settingKnowledge of HIPAA FERPA and other legal/regulatory requirements relevant to a college clinical healthcare setting.Preferred Background:PhD in Social Work or PsychologyHigher education leadership experience in a student health services roleDirect experience working with performing artistsExperience working with Medicat or other healthcare information management platforms*Submission of a cover letter is a requirement of all applicants.
