Salary InformationCompensation plans are based on a multi-step progression system. The pay range reflects the entry level and maximum salary potential in the assigned pay grade. **A starting salary may be negotiated and will be commensurate with education training and experience in alignment with pay administration policies and Montgomery Personnel Board Rules & Regulations** Nature of WorkThefundamental reason this position exists is to provide strategic leadership andoversight of the Emergency Communications Department which includes E-911radio wireless and land communication systems. This is responsibleadministrative and management work in planning organizing staffingdirecting and controlling the operations and maintenance of the EmergencyCommunications Center its employees facilities equipment and grounds. Majorduties include developing implementing and enforcing policies and proceduresfor the overall administration and generally overseeing all departmentactivities. The Director of Emergency Communications reports to the MayorsChief of Staff.Minimum QualificationsBachelors Degree from an accredited college or university inPublic Administration Business Emergency Management or a closely relatedfield and five (5) years of experience in a management position in an E-911communications center equal in programmatic and geographical size to the Cityof Montgomery to include supervision of subordinate supervisors budgetmanagement and resource management.NOTE:Qualifying education training and experience that provide therequisite knowledge skills and abilities to perform the job will be considered.Special RequirementsMust be willing to work nights weekends andholidays and willing to be on-call to respond to emergency incidents as needed.Kind of ExaminationApplications are being accepted to fill one (1) vacancyand any other vacancies that may occur during the life of the register.
