DescriptionPrimary Duties & ResponsibilitiesLead and mentor the OS Business Unit Engineering teams encompassing New Product Introduction (NPI) Mechanical and Optical Engineering Automation and Software Development ensuring alignment with company vision and market demands.Oversee the Technical Sales Specialist teams fostering collaboration to drive innovative solutions and enhance customer satisfaction.Coordinate global business unit engineering development activitiesRegularly report on development project progress and shortfalls; recommend project extensions or termination as appropriateSpearhead the development and execution of the development engineering portion of the Annual Operating Plan (AOP) and Five-Year Plan (5YP) ensuring resource allocation and strategic initiatives are effectively implemented.Ensure the timely and accurate management of developmental engineering documentation and data control establishing best practices for quality assurance.Lead the business unit IP trade secret and patent programs to ensure effective protections of critical IP.Implement and maintain Environment Health and Safety (EHS) protocols in all development activities to safeguard organizational assets and employee well-being.Ensure the protection of export-controlled information and compliance with industry export regulations.Act as a key member of the trade compliance focal program leading initiatives to ensure adherence to relevant laws and regulations.Serve as the primary point of contact for site-level compliance and engineering strategy providing guidance and support to stakeholders.Develop developmental engineering skillsets to ensure timely project execution for innovative technologies/capabilities and leadership development within the team.Collaborate with internal stakeholders and external customers to align business and technical objectives driving innovation and enhancing market competitiveness.Ensure effective technical support for sales customers and production operations.Maintain compliance to ISO standards ensuring effective documentation of all developed products and processes.Education & ExperienceBachelors degree in business engineering or related field required. Advanced degree in engineering business administration or a related field is preferred.A minimum of 15 years of experience in a manufacturing or engineering environment with significant leadership roles7 years of diversified leadership planning communication organization and people motivation skills experience.Proven track record of success in managing cross-functional teams and complex projects.SkillsStrong analytical and problem-solving abilities to make data-driven decisions.Experience in leading change initiatives and driving organizational transformation.Familiarity with relevant technologies and engineering processes to effectively guide teams.Expertise in developing long-term strategic plans that align with organizational goals.Ability to analyze market trends and adjust strategies accordingly.Proven experience leading diverse teams across various functions (engineering sales R&D).Strong interpersonal skills to facilitate collaboration and resolve conflicts.Proficiency in managing complex projects from inception to completion.Familiarity with project management methodologies (e.g. Agile Waterfall).In-depth understanding of export control regulations and compliance with ISO standards.Strong communication and negotiation skills to interface effectively with customers.Ability to build and maintain long-term customer relationships.Exceptional organizational skills to manage multiple priorities and tasks simultaneously.Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.Strong strategic planning and cross-functional leadership capabilities.Ability to manage complex projects and interface effectively with customers.Willingness to travel domestically and internationally as needed demonstrating flexibility and adaptability.Sensitivity to cultural differences and ability to work in a global environment.Working ConditionsThe position is based in an office environment at the Saxonburg site with expectations for regular on-site engagement.Physical RequirementsAbility to stand and walk for extended periods during site visits meetings or presentations and navigate manufacturing and office environments to interact with teams and oversee operations.Willingness and ability to travel domestically and internationally including long periods of standing walking and navigating airports and transportation.Capacity to review documents engineering drawings and technical reports requiring good vision for detail-oriented tasks.Ability to engage in discussions and meetings in diverse environments requiring strong auditory skills for effective participation.Occasionally lift or move equipment or materials up to 25 pounds.Ability to work under pressure and manage stress effectively especially during critical project phases or negotiations.Must be able to read interpret and respond to detailed information in emails quotes proposals and presentations; some tasks may require good hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity.May require working beyond normal business hours to meet strategic and operational demands.xxxxSafety RequirementsAll employees are required to follow the site EHS procedures and Coherent Corp.
