Reporting to the Chief Business Officer (CBO) the Director of Finance serves as a trusted partner and financial steward overseeing an accounting team responsible for accounts payable receivable payroll coordination member billing treasury and general ledger operations. The role is central to preserving CCVs financial strength through accuracy compliance and strategic insight ensuring that every financial process aligns with the Clubs mission of excellence stewardship and member service.POSITION PURPOSEThe Director of Finance serves as the senior financial leader responsible for day-to-day financial operations accounting excellence and financial reporting integrity at The Country Club of Virginia. This role leads the accounting team and ensures the Clubs financial operations support CCVs mission of financial stewardship operational excellence and member service. The Director of Finance is a trusted partner to the CBO translating strategic financial direction into operational excellence while maintaining the highest standards of accuracy compliance and internal controls. This role is critical to preserving CCVs exceptional financial position and supporting data-driven decision-making across the organization.KEY RESPONSIBILITIESFinancial Operations LeadershipLead all financial operations including accounts payable accounts receivable general ledger member billing and month-end close processesOversee member billing operations charge accuracy and dispute resolutionProvide indirect oversight of payroll function ensuring accuracy and complianceManage cash handling procedures daily reconciliations and banking relationshipsFinancial Reporting & AnalysisDeliver timely accurate monthly and annual financial statements in accordance with Club policiesEnsure timely accurate reporting to the CBO GM/COO and senior leadershipPrepare Board of Directors financial packages with clear narratives and analysisDevelop executive dashboards and KPIs to monitor operational performanceMonitor performance variance and trend analysis to support decision-makingAnalyze results and provide department heads with clear tools and insights to support informed budget decisionsBudgeting & ForecastingSupport the CBO in developing annual operating and capital budgetsCollaborate with department heads to create realistic data-informed budgetsMaintain rolling forecasts and long-term financial planning modelsDevelop scenario analyses to support strategic planning and risk mitigationAudit Compliance & Internal ControlsManage audit readiness and serve as primary contact with external auditorsMaintain strong internal controls compliance and documentation to safeguard assets and ensure regulatory complianceCoordinate insurance coverage reviews and risk management practicesLead documentation remediation and training related to control processesSystems & TechnologyPartner with IT to optimize club management and accounting systems ensuring data integritySupport financial technology transformation initiativesDevelop and maintain reporting tools and dashboards for business intelligenceIdentify automation and process improvement opportunities across Accounting operationsTeam LeadershipMentor and develop the accounting team to ensure capability and continuityLead mentor and develop a high-performing accounting teamConduct regular performance reviews and support professional growthFoster a culture of accuracy accountability and continuous improvementBuild bench strength and succession planning within the Accounting teamTHE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL DEMONSTRATEAdvanced accounting and GAAP expertise including regulatory compliance and financial analysisLeadership experience developing and mentoring accounting teamsCollaborative partnership with senior leadership department heads and the BoardStrong analytical acumen Accounting Finance or related field (required)CPA designation requiredExperience710 years progressive finance/accounting experience including 3 years in leadershipProven success managing multi-venue financial operations and accounting teams of 5 professionalsStrong technical accounting and GAAP knowledgeExperience with external audits and financial statement preparationExperience in private club hospitality or not-for-profit environment preferredKEY RELATIONSHIPSInternal RelationshipsReports to the Chief Business Officer (CBO) providing financial leadership operational insight and performance managementPartners with the General Manager/COO Director of Membership IT Director and department heads across all Club operationsDirectly manages accounting professionals including accountants AP/AR staff and administrative supportCollaborates cross-functionally with Facilities & Operations Golf Athletics Food & Beverage and HR for budgeting analysis and operational supportExternal RelationshipsPrimary liaison with external auditors banking partners and tax advisorsCoordinates with vendors insurance representatives and financial consultantsRepresents CCV in professional finance and private club networks for benchmarking and best practicesSUCCESS MEASURESClean external audit with no material weaknesses or significant deficienciesMonthly close completed within 15 business days with high accuracyAccurate and timely financial reportingStrong internal controls and compliance with all regulatory requirementsBudget process completed on schedule with robust departmental engagementHigh team engagement development and retention within the Accounting departmentWORK ENVIRONMENT & SCHEDULEBased on-site at The Country Club of Virginia with regular interaction across
