Director of Nursing (DON) – Long-Term Care

Location: The Waters of Shelbyville - Shelbyville, TN
Position Type: Full-Time

DOB Job Summary:
The Waters of Shelbyville is seeking an experienced and compassionate Director of Nursing (DON) to lead and oversee all nursing operations within our long-term care facility. The DON is responsible for ensuring high-quality resident care, regulatory compliance, staff leadership, and clinical excellence in accordance with state and federal guidelines.

DON Key Responsibilities:

• Provide leadership and direction to nursing staff, including RNs, LPNs, and CNAs

• Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations (CMS, state survey standards)

• Oversee clinical care, resident assessments, care planning, and quality measures

• Develop, implement, and evaluate nursing policies and procedures

• Collaborate with the Administrator and interdisciplinary team to improve outcomes

• Manage staffing, scheduling, training, and performance management

• Lead survey preparedness and response, including plans of correction

• Monitor infection control practices and quality assurance initiatives

DON Qualifications:

• Current, unencumbered RN license in the state of practice

• Minimum 2–3 years of nursing leadership experience in long-term care (DON or ADON preferred)

• Strong knowledge of LTC regulations and survey processes

• Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills

• Ability to mentor staff and promote a positive work culture
