Director of Nursing (DON) – Long-Term Care
Location: The Waters of Shelbyville - Shelbyville, TN
Position Type: Full-Time
DOB Job Summary:
The Waters of Shelbyville is seeking an experienced and compassionate Director of Nursing (DON) to lead and oversee all nursing operations within our long-term care facility. The DON is responsible for ensuring high-quality resident care, regulatory compliance, staff leadership, and clinical excellence in accordance with state and federal guidelines.
DON Key Responsibilities:
Provide leadership and direction to nursing staff, including RNs, LPNs, and CNAs
Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations (CMS, state survey standards)
Oversee clinical care, resident assessments, care planning, and quality measures
Develop, implement, and evaluate nursing policies and procedures
Collaborate with the Administrator and interdisciplinary team to improve outcomes
Manage staffing, scheduling, training, and performance management
Lead survey preparedness and response, including plans of correction
Monitor infection control practices and quality assurance initiatives
DON Qualifications:
Current, unencumbered RN license in the state of practice
Minimum 2–3 years of nursing leadership experience in long-term care (DON or ADON preferred)
Strong knowledge of LTC regulations and survey processes
Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills
Ability to mentor staff and promote a positive work culture
