SUMMARY STATEMENTThe Director of Nursing is responsible for the supervision, operation, evaluation, and planning of the educational programs in the Nursing division. This includes the Associate of Science Degree in Nursing and the Certificate in Practical Nursing. ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPSA. The Director of Nursing reports directly and is responsible to the Vice President of Academic Affairs and Student Services. B. This position involves directly supervising and evaluating full-time and adjunct faculty, as well as administrative staff, who support the educational programs of the Nursing Division. C. The Director of Nursing coordinates most closely with the Dean of Instruction, the Dean of Academic Innovation & Technology, the Dean of Student Services, the Academic Division Directors, Dean of Workforce Solutions & Continuing Education, Director of Admissions & Enrollment Management, and the Director of Advising & Student Support to fulfill the responsibilities of the Nursing Division. The Director also collaborates with hospital personnel, state agencies, and other external organizations in carrying out program responsibilities. DUTIESA. Administers the educational programs of the Nursing Division.1. Serves as the administrator for the Nursing degree program and the certificate. 2. Assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates division programs and their associated courses. 3. Develops strategic plan for division programs in collaboration with the faculty. 4. Establishes annual goals and objectives for the division in collaboration with the faculty. 5. Ensures compliancy with regulatory and accrediting standards. 6. Provides supervision of all personnel within the division. 7. Evaluates faculty and makes the initial recommendation concerning tenure and promotion for divisional faculty. 8. Conducts community assessments and market analyses to determine the feasibility of initiating new programs within the division of Nursing. 9. Provides support to faculty who lead advisory committees for Nursing division programs. 10. Prepares, allocates, and monitors the annual divisional budget. 11. Participates actively in professional organizations at the local, state, and national level. 12. Provides guidance to faculty on developing, maintaining and academic and clinical standards. 13. Manages divisional grants by coordinating applications, monitoring budgets, ensuring regulatory compliance, and tracking project milestones. OR Coordinates and monitors divisional grants to ensure accurate budgeting, timely reporting, and adherence to funding requirements. 14. Establishes a professional development plan focused on continuing education, management, and leadership, with an annual review and revision. 15. Organizes and facilities nursing division faculty meetings. 16. In collaboration with the Clinical Contract Coordinator of WSCE, arranges the necessary clinical facilities and written agreements required to, support of the Nursing programs. 17. Maintains appropriate files, records, and program evaluations in the Nursing Division. 18. Recommends the purchase of equipment for the division. 19. Provides support for the successful implementation of the Nursing Simulation Laboratory.B. Coordinates programs with other areas of the College.1. Participates in the hiring process of new faculty members. 2. Acts as a liaison for the Nursing Division with other College divisions, the community, and local, state and federal agencies. 3. Serves as a consultant to the Dean of Workforce Solutions & Continuing Education in the process of planning and delivering continuing education courses in the nursing field. 4. Works with the Dean of Instruction and Dean of Academic Innovation & Technology to support instruction in the Nursing programs. 5. Works with the Enrollment Services and divisional faculty in the selection and admission of students into the Nursing programs. C. External Program Connections1. Apply to serves as a Peer Evaluator for the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) Evaluation Review Panel, contributing to program evaluation and accreditation processes. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCEMasters degree in nursing or the willingness to work towards a degree if hired (doctorate preferred); Minimum of five years of leadership and supervisory experience required. Teaching experience, as well as proficiency with computer applications and budget preparation, is preferred. SKILLS AND ABILITIESStrong management and organizational skills; advising/counseling skills; demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with students, faculty, and administrators. ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTCurrent licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of Maryland. WORK ENVIRONMENTOffice/classroom environment with travel to clinical sites off-campus and professional meetings.
