Director of Project Management & Preconstruction at Staffing Support Specialists

Position: Director of Project Management & PreconstructionShift: 1st ShiftWage: Summary:We're seeking an experienced and hands-on Director of Project Management & Preconstruction to lead our project management, estimating, and preconstruction teams, from concept through closeout while developing talent, optimizing processes, and collaborating closely with clients and internal teams. Responsibilities:Lead, and train project managers, estimators, and preconstruction staff to successCoordinate and align internal activities by establishing priorities, assigning responsibilities based on project requirements and team members' skill sets; lead project planning, bidding, budgeting, and executionBuild customer relationships and collaborate with cross-functional teams including design, sales, shops, and field constructionEnsure quality, safety, and profitability across all projects; help to manage schedules, deviations, subcontractor relations, etc.Oversee estimating and construction progress, with a focus on budget adherence and quality standardsEnsure accurate, competitive, and professional preparation and presentation of bids, proposals, contracts, and project plansMonitor project financials, negotiate and understand contracts; address cost projections, change orders, requisition reviews, and risk reportingDrive team development and individual performance through coaching, setting KPI measures, and mentoring Qualifications:Bachelor's in construction management, project management, civil engineering, or a related field7+ years progressive experience in preconstruction, project management, and estimating5+ years of directly leading, managing, and setting metrics for cross-functional team membersStrong skills in estimating, scheduling, budgeting, cost control, contract interpretation, and risk managementPMP strongly preferred or ability to obtain after hireOSHA-10 certificationLEED accreditation, field experience, and design-build background preferredExperience with tools like Procore, MS Project, and ERP systemsPositive and solution-oriented, with a steady approach to ambiguity, challenges, and daily demandsCustomer-focused, building strong internal and external relationshipsRespectful, professional, and approachable leader-motivates teams while upholding high standardsStrategic and analytical, flexible and adaptable; excels at meeting shifting priorities and deadlinesStrong communicator-clear, concise, and engaging in writing, speaking, listening, and presentingProcess-minded and innovative, always looking to improve efficiency and outcomesInvested in team success, with strong coaching, mentoring, and leadership skillsHighly organized, managing multiple projects, deadlines, and team members effectivelyCollaborative and able to lead without ego or domination; drives results without creating friction We're looking for a strategic, people-focused leader with industry knowledge and a drive for excellence.
