Toward this end, it pursues a fourfold mission: to prepare outstanding lawyers and leaders for the bar, the bench, all public and private law settings, and public service; to make nationally and internationally significant legal and policy contributions through an ambitious agenda of research and scholarship; to instill lifelong ethical values, dedication to the cause of justice and a lasting commitment to pro bono and public service; and, to serve the legal profession, the people and institutions of North Carolina, the nation and the world.Position Summary:The Director reports to the Assistant Dean for Student Development and participates in the development and implementation of a comprehensive program to support students and graduates from admission to UNC School of Law through bar passage and licensure. The Director works across all units (Student Development, Career Development, Academic Success, Academic Dean, Embedded Counselor) to triage and case manage students as they navigate the rigorous requirements of law school. The Director works with students on time management, organization, calendaring, financial planning and other skills necessary for success beyond the substantive legal education instruction. The Director will need to familiarize themselves with bar exam formats (UBE, NextGen), application processes/deadlines and scoring information to help students and graduates navigate the entire process from application, preparation and ultimate licensure. Collect, analyze, and report data related to student progress, bar passage rates, advising outcomes, and wellness engagement The Director conducts progress interviews and exit interviews for all UNC School of Law students.The Director may be called upon to support teaching the Applied Legal Concepts Course and/or bar prep workshops.Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:Relevant post-Baccalaureate degree required (or foreign degree equivalent); for candidates demonstrating comparable independent educational or instructional activities associated with the delivery and/or management of student support functions, will accept a relevant Bachelor’s degree (or foreign degree equivalent) and at least 1 year of relevant experience in substitution.Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience:JD degree from an ABA accredited law school.Strong written and verbal communication skills.High level of organization, flexibility, sound judgment, and interpersonal skills.Strong written and verbal communication skills.Large group and small group presentation ability.Ability to maintain confidentiality pursuant to FERPA and other regulationsPreferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience:2+ years’ experience in legal academic support (student advising, bar prep, career advising).Teaching or experience with student advising as related to academic issues.Legal practice experience.Ability to conduct basic statistical analysis.Campus Security Authority Responsibilities:Not Applicable.
