The Philly Tree Coalition (PTC) is a newly formalized entity tasked with stewarding the implementation of the Philly Tree Plan the citys first comprehensive strategic plan to restore and protect the urban forest released in 2023.LOCATION:This position is office-based and located in Center City Philadelphia.Hours:Monday through Friday 8:30 am - 5:00 pm with some evening and weekend hours as needed.Salary Range: $75500 to $94500POSITION SUMMARY:The Director will be the inward-and outward-facing leader of the PTC working to advance the implementation of the Philly Tree Plan through long-term planning fundraising from public and private sources fostering collaboration and communication between coalition members and executing the annual work plan of the PTC. The Director will collaborate with the PTC member organizations to understand upcoming implementation activities match activities to available funding and determine which additional funding to seek. Fundraising activities also include working with member organizations to lobby local state and federal officials to increase funding for urban forestry. The Director will lead communication about Philly Tree Plan implementation and support the efforts of coalition members to educate and influence civic organizations businesses and opinion leaders to make sure that a healthy urban tree canopy becomes and remains a major civic priority that is well understood well-funded and celebrated. The Director will supervise additional staff who will support the Director and the Philly Tree Coalition. The Director will work in the Strategy Development Department reporting administratively to the Senior Director of Public Health Programs under the Managing Director and will be reviewed annually by the Senior Director of Public Health Programs and the Philly Tree Coalitions Advisory Committee. The Director will be an employee of PHMC and will be housed within its offices and infrastructure.RESPONSIBILITIES:Direct the ongoing operations administration and strategic direction of the Philly Tree Coalition in collaboration with member organizations - calling meetings coordinating efforts of the committees and administering the core work of the PTC.Develop and maintain close working relationships with each member organization of the PTC.Build and maintain relationships with community-based organizations throughout the City of Philadelphia.Build relationships with nationwide organizations municipalities and non-profits for mutual knowledge sharing and strategic alignment.Supervise additional staff positions created to support the Philly Tree Coalition.Lead the co-development and implementation of an annual planning process that lays out all implementation activities over the next three years by all partners matches them to funding in place and determines what additional funding to seek (and tracks execution of this plan).Support the PTC in the development and implementation of strategic plans creating frameworks performance indicators and accountability systems to guide partners toward shared impact.Work with PTC member organizations to identify gaps in capacity and determine appropriate supports and program deliverables as needed.Raise awareness and move public sentiment around the importance of trees and the need for an increased tree canopy in Philadelphia.Manage corporate and foundation relationships including overseeing writing proposals managing grants and preparing reports.Lead effort to raise funds from public sources corporate partnerships and private philanthropy to fund Philly Tree Plan implementation activities by PTC member organizations.Oversee financial strategy and resource allocation with support from the PTC member organizations including overall program budget management subcontract budget monitoring spending compliance and alignment with grant and funder requirements.Work closely with PHMCs fiscal team to ensure adherence to financial policies and reporting requirements.Collaborate with other partnerships/coalitions to advance public policy and increase funding to advance the mission of the Philly Tree Coalition and Philly Tree Plan.Create and nurture relationships with key elected and appointed officials serving as the primary strategic representative of the PTC.Research analyze and track local state and federal public policy through legislation current law appropriations and regulations that pertain to the goals of the PTC and the Philly Tree Plan.Provide organizational support for the PTC and its advisory committee by planning meetings developing materials and facilitating communication amongst PTC member organizations.Oversee the Tree Forward microgrant program in coordination with the PTC including RFP development timeline and deliverable management grantee coordination and support and fiscal and reporting requirements.SKILLS:Excellent influential collaborative and relationship-building skills.Experience working with community organizations and managing city-wide coalitions in an urban environment with existing deep connections to Philadelphia preferred.Ability to connect and build alliances among a wide range of players including funders non-profit and business organizations.Commitment to the mission of the Philadelphia Tree Coalition and Philly Tree Plan.Strong facilitation skills for both in-person and virtual meetings.Familiarity with urban and community forestry topics.Ability to demonstrate an understanding of environmental justice issues.Proven success at prioritizing tasks and meeting project budget deliverables and timelines in a composed and professional manner.Ability to mobilize a team towards collective impacts.Close attention to details accuracy and timeliness.Ability to communicate effectively with diverse audiences and constituencies across platforms (email phone in person text etc).Ability to provide strong leadership and vision for individual and collective work;
