Director SAP Data Management

This role places you at the center of our data transformation—aligning SAP S/4HANA, embedded analytics, and modern data platforms to unlock trustworthy, democratized data that accelerates our mission to deliver life‑changing medicines.
You will lead a multi-disciplinary SAP data capability to modernize how data is governed, provisioned, and consumed—elevating quality, consistency, and speed. Your work will connect core platforms to downstream ecosystems, drive analytics modernization, and enable real‑time insights that help teams move faster with confidence. Responsibilities
- Team Leadership and Culture: Lead the highly talented teams of SAP BW, SAP MDG, SAP BO, BODS, and SLT; establish a culture of collaboration and team spirit, and mentor individuals to excel.
- Platform Ownership and Availability: Be accountable for SAP Platform’s master data governance, data platform/provision, and analytics capability; ensure SAP data platform (BW) and the Global SAP Repository (GSR) are continuously available and reliable.
- AI-Enabled Delivery: Introduce AI to improve delivery speed, automation, and value creation across data accumulation, provisioning, and reporting.
- Interim Analytics and Modernization: Lead the interim state of analytics solutions; work with the Axial team and Business Technology Groups (BTGs) to define and deliver interim analytics; drive modernization by migrating front-end from BO to SAC and aligning with SAP’s Business Data Cloud.
- Lifecycle and Risk Management: Supervise end‑of‑service life for related applications and complete planned transitions; protect data platforms with a zero‑data‑loss attitude and ensure FAIR data is available to collaborators on time.
- Master Data Governance Evolution: Be accountable for master data governance objects in the existing SAP MDG and support the new MDG system delivered as part of the Axial program.
- Continuously improve the SAP data environment to meet future needs. Integrate new data sources like IoT sensors. Deliver the right insights to the business.
- Enterprise Integration and Ecosystem: Deliver data integration for mergers and acquisitions with existing data lakes; work closely with enterprise data platforms like Snowflake to ensure governed, reliable data flows between SAP and non‑SAP environments.
- Strategy, Architecture, and Standards: Partner with Business Process Leads, Data Management Leads, BTGs, and Architects to deliver technical solutions that define reference architecture and technology standards; ensure common architecture decisions are implemented consistently across SAP’s master data management platform and Data Analytics.
- Roadmaps and Portfolio Governance: Develop application roadmaps, implementation approaches, and project plans for large global projects; drive portfolio governance within Data Management and SAP BW.
- Collaborator Communication: Present solutions and options to leadership, project teams, and collaborators, adapting style for both technical and non‑technical audiences.
- Program Delivery: Manage delivery for global, business‑critical projects and support architecture and solution build in MDG and BI in line with the S/4 strategy; ensure minimum disruption and provide scalable, flexible solutions.
- Automation and Quality: Automate testing for data pipelines, provisioning, and reporting to increase quality and speed.
Essential Skills / Experience
- At least 15 - 20 years working experience with SAP suite, exposure to the sap data management tools like BW, MDG, Data‑sphere and SAC.
- Consistent record of efficiently implementing SAP transformation programs.
- Experience in managing large team
- Exposure to use of AI tools, to accelerate the speed and value.
- Exposure on closely working senior level stakeholders
- Excellent presentation and articulation skills. Presentation skills with a high degree of comfort to both teams and senior stakeholders
- Strong and demonstrated system integration capabilities are required
- Bachelors or master’s degree
Desirable Skills / Experience
- PMP certification preferred
- Knowledge in SAP S/4 HANA Analytics tools.
- Pharma or Manufacturing preferred
