The Director of Speech Language Pathology provides leadership supervision and administration and reports directly to the Dean of the College of Health Professions. The Director is responsible for providing visionary leadership strategic planning and effective management and oversight of the academic programs faculty staff students and resources.The Director establishes and maintains an environment that allows faculty students and staff to flourish. This leader ensures that academic programs offer students innovative and effective learning methodologies opportunities for developing writing and research skills nurturing critical thinking skills and promoting character and professional development. The Director also fosters a culture of excellence innovation and collaboration within the program the College the University and the external community.The overarching goal for the Director is to provide an atmosphere where students are encouraged to set high academic expectations for themselves and reach their potential for intellectual emotional and spiritual development. Its mission is to offer high-quality academic programs that empower its graduates to seek a life more abundant.Goals:Provide visionary and strategic direction for the Speech Language Pathology program in alignment with the College and the University missions visions and values.Oversee the development delivery and evaluation of a high-quality and innovative academic program that meets the needs of diverse learners and the changing healthcare environment.Meet all accreditation standards and requirementsEnsure the program provides high-quality rigorous learning experiencesMaintain a positive work culture within the program the College and the UniversityDemonstrate a strong commitment to teachingFacilitate a positive connection between each student and the University of the CumberlandsEngage in and encourage scholarshipPromote service to the university profession and communityJob Responsibilities:Provide leadership in the formulation development and fulfillment of Departmental goalsServe as a moral ethical and professional model in class and in the communityRecruit mentor and evaluate faculty and staff and support their professional development and scholarly activities.Ensure effective orientation training mentoring and evaluation of faculty and/or staff that contribute to a positive faculty and student experienceCoordinate program design assessment technology integration and curriculum development that aligns with institutional and program accreditationDevelop and manage the budget and resources of the Speech Language Pathology program in a fiscally responsible and transparent manner.Represent and advocate for the Speech Language Pathology program in various forums and committees at the University College local state and national levels.Manage department course rotations assignments and schedulesSupervise and coordinate student clinical rotations and sitesAdvise students on course progressDevelop and maintain collaborative relationships with the administration of the University College other divisions or departments within the institution related facilities and the community.Facilitate the development of long-range goals and objectives for the Speech Language Pathology program.Maintain current knowledge of requirements pertaining to the Speech Language Pathology program and licensure.Complete any additional duties as assigned by the Vice President for Academic Affairs and Dean of the College of Health Professions.Work collaboratively and successfully with colleagues and university administrationJob Requirements:The candidate shall:Possess an earned doctorate in Speech Language Pathology (preferred) from an accredited institution. Or the individual designated as program director holds a graduate degree with a major emphasis in speech-language pathology in audiology or in speech language and hearing scienceHold a current and unencumbered Speech Language Pathology license to practice in the Commonwealth of KentuckyDemonstrate academic leadership experienceExhibit a record of distinguished teaching scholarship and service in Speech Language Pathology educationProvide evidence of success in curriculum development program evaluation accreditation and assessment.Display effective communication interpersonal and organizational skills. Must be able to relate to and communicate with diverse students faculty staff and external communitiesExhibit a willingness to adopt and support a mindset that focuses on student successServe on appropriate University committeesDemonstrate a history of employee excellence.Compensation: Commensurate with education and experience.Benefits: NegotiableJob Type: Faculty/AdministrationJob Location: University of the Cumberlands.
