Job Description:The Director of Student Accounts oversees tuition billing, collections, and related operations for undergraduate and graduate programs. This role manages a team of Student Accounts Advisors, ensures compliance with institutional and regulatory standards, and drives strategies to optimize receivables and enhance the student financial experience. The position reports to the Associate Vice President of Compliance and Student Finance and collaborates with Finance, Admissions, Financial Aid, and other departments to ensure accurate and timely student account management.Position responsibilities include, but are not limited to: • Lead and develop a high-performing Student Accounts team focused on service excellence and continuous improvement. • Implement and maintain strategies to maximize accounts receivable collections and minimize risk. • Report on tuition and fee revenue collections to the AVP of Compliance and Student Finance. • Manage vendor and collection agency relationships, ensuring contract compliance and performance. • Oversee delinquent account notifications and collection efforts. • Monitor receivable balances and develop term-based collection strategies. • Coordinate with Finance, Admissions, Financial Aid, and other departments on billing and receivable matters. • Ensure accurate preparation and submission of IRS Form 1098-T annually. • Maintain tuition and fee rate tables and manage third-party billing within the Student Information System (SIS). • Ensure accurate payment posting and reconciliation across systems. • Collaborate with AVP of Compliance to review and update policies and procedures. • Oversee service standards for email, call center, and case queues. • Manage payments from assistance programs, VA benefits, and tuition remission in partnership with HR. • Develop annual strategic plans for Student Accounts operations. • Support audits, regulatory compliance, and policy updates. • Serve as functional lead for Student Accounts in SIS and ERP transitions; enhance reporting and analytics. • Drive cross-departmental collaboration for term starts, refunds, and new program launches. • Forecast tuition collections, refunds, and write-offs; identify process improvements. • Oversee scholarship disbursement, reconciliation, and compliance in partnership with Financial Aid and Finance. • Evaluate and optimize vendor solutions for payments, collections, and refunds.• Drive cross-departmental collaboration for term starts, refunds, and new program launches. • Forecast tuition collections, refunds, and write-offs; identify process improvements. • Oversee scholarship disbursement, reconciliation, and compliance in partnership with Financial Aid and Finance. • Evaluate and optimize vendor solutions for payments, collections, and refunds.Required Qualifications:Knowledge and Skills• Expertise in student account operations, accounts receivable, and cash management principles. • Strong knowledge of federal and state financial aid regulations, VA education benefits, TILA, and institutional policies. • Experience with ERP systems (e.g., Anthology) and data analysis/reporting. • Ability to lead teams, foster collaboration, and maintain compliance with auditing standards.Education:• Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s preferred in Finance, Business, or related field. Experience:• Minimum five years of experience in billing, collections, customer service, and management in higher education.Compensation & BenefitsThis opportunity is budgeted at $105,000 - 112,500 base compensation.
