Job DescriptionJob DescriptionCAD Operator – HVAC & Mechanical ConstructionWalker White Mechanical – Columbia, SC Full-Time | Competitive Pay + BenefitsWalker White Mechanical is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented CAD Operator to support our growing mechanical contracting team in Columbia, South Carolina. This role provides hands-on involvement in drafting and coordinating commercial HVAC, plumbing, and piping systems for a wide range of construction projects.If you excel in technical drafting, enjoy solving layout challenges, and want to grow within the mechanical construction industry, we want to talk to you. Key ResponsibilitiesProduce accurate 2D and 3D AutoCAD drawings for HVAC, plumbing, and piping systemsUtilize Revit, AutoCAD MEP, and Navisworks for layout coordination and clash detectionInterpret architectural, structural, and mechanical drawings to develop precise MEP plansDraft ductwork, piping, and equipment layouts for installation and fabricationCollaborate with project managers, superintendents, and engineers to create constructible designsUpdate, revise, and maintain drawings throughout all phases of the projectSupport BIM coordination efforts and assist with model integration on large-scale projects QualificationsProficiency in AutoCAD (required)Experience with Revit, AutoCAD MEP, and Navisworks preferredMinimum 2 years of CAD drafting experience in construction, engineering, or mechanical contractingStrong understanding of HVAC, plumbing, and mechanical system layoutsAbility to interpret construction documents and technical specificationsFamiliarity with BIM workflows, coordination processes, and fabrication standardsExcellent attention to detail, time management, and communication skills Preferred SkillsExperience in sheet metal or piping layoutKnowledge of prefabrication practicesUnderstanding of mechanical codes and construction field procedures BenefitsCompetitive hourly pay based on experienceMedical, dental, and vision insurance401(k) retirement planPaid holidays and PTOOpportunities for long-term growth and skill developmentCollaborative, team-focused work environment About Walker White MechanicalWith over 50 years of service across the Carolinas, Walker White Mechanical is a premier mechanical contractor specializing in commercial HVAC, plumbing, and mechanical system installations.
