Were looking for someone who is dedicated to ensuring that every project no matter how simple or complex is of exceptional quality. Youll be working directly with clients to make sure that Leidos reputation for high-quality work is always maintained. If you join us in this role youll gain expertise in a variety of areas including NESC Structural Pole Modeling Electrical Power Calculations GIS design training Field Data Collection and Client Design Standards. Your greatest work is ahead!Travel:This position has remote-working capabilities but candidates must be located within a commutable distance of our Western PA support areas to be considered so we can provide support to our local utility customer as needed. As a Distribution Designer you can expect to:With supervision of a technical lead perform design engineering for Leidos electric utility customers.Contribute to your teams work packages for OH UG URD Make Ready and Street Light projects using customer GIS and Work Management systemsWork with other engineers and design leads on broad client issues including schedule adherence and team quality control; manage scope schedule and budget of work assigned.Ability to follow standard design guidelines and client requirements.Successful candidates must comply with quality control and safe work practices and maintain compliance with project scope schedule and budget. This position will be a member of a design team comprised of engineers designers and CAD technicians and will work with client standards to implement design.What Sets You Apart (Background Requirements):High school diploma or equivalent.2 years of relevant experience.Knowledge of drafting principles techniques and procedures.Ability to create and/or modify drawings from engineer-provided markups with a high level of attention to details.Proficiency with Windows operating system environments.Proficiency with Microsoft Office products such as Word Excel Outlook etc.Strong professional verbal and written communication skills within a team environment.Highly organized and efficient.Ability to perform tasks in a fast paced engineering/production environment.Ability to utilize a personal vehicleas some customer-related travel could be anticipated(Job-related travel will be reimbursed at IRS-approved rates)Willingness to perform both field and office work; Ability to work in outdoor environments on occasion; The role may require customer-site visits to collect field data that will assist in developing work packagesCandidates should possess valid U.S. drivers license as some local or regional travel is expectedPreferred QualificationsDistribution design and Utility client experienceKnowledge of protection & control design experienceExperience with file sharing document management and collaboration tools such as ProjectWise FTP SharePoint etc.Ability to understand and implement a wide range of client CAD standards.At Leidos we pride ourselves on being a trusted and technology-focused solutions provider.
