Overview The Department of Corrections is seeking a compassionate and organized Peer Support Coordinator to lead efforts that promote the wellness resilience and overall well-being of DOC staff. This position plays a vital role in supporting employees who face the unique stress and challenges of correctional work by fostering a healthy balanced and supportive work culture.The Peer Support Coordinator provides proactive outreach crisis response and confidential assistance to staff following critical or high-stress incidents. The position develops and delivers wellness and resilience programs coordinates peer support activities and partners with leadership to integrate wellness principles into daily operations across facilities and field offices.Candidates should have experience in corrections human services behavioral health or a related field. Strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential along with the ability to respond with empathy and professionalism in sensitive situations. Knowledge of wellness practices crisis response and peer support principles is preferred. Evening and weekend work may be necessary. Work under pressure of deadlines and interactions with staff promoting opposing concepts are required.Minimum Qualifications Associates degree AND five (5) years or more of experience in corrections human services military service or law enforcement.ORHigh School diploma or equivalent AND seven (7) years or more of experience in corrections human services military service or law enforcement.Special Requirements Candidates must pass any level of background investigation applicable to this accordance with AHS Policy 4.02 Hiring Standards Vermont and/or national criminal record checks as well as DMV and adult and child abuse registry checks as appropriate to the position under recruitment will be conducted on candidates with the exception of those who are current classified state employees seeking transfer promotion or demotion into an AHS classified position or are persons exercising re-employment (RIF) rights.DOC PREA (Prison Rape Elimination Act) Requirements In accordance with federal regulation any person applying for employment in the Department of Corrections must provide relevant information.
