Job DescriptionJob DescriptionSalary: 14.00Summary: The Domestic Violence Victim Advocate will provide residential and non-residential advocacy services to survivors of domestic violence through the Domestic Violence Assistance Program.Shift hours: 2nd Shift - WeekendsSupervisory Responsibility: NoDuties and Responsibilities:Provide trauma-informed services to survivors of domestic violence abuse and their families including support, advocacy, crisis intervention, safety planning, referrals, and in-takes.Consistently follow and uphold the program policy and procedures.Provide conflict management.Take appropriate steps to handle crisis and emergency situations with the goal of maintaining the safety of all staff and survivors.Provide follow-up services to all clients.Become familiar with all community resources to make appropriate referrals.Maintain client files, agency files, data, forms, and other record keeping as required.Complete all required paperwork and enter it into the client record database in a timely manner.Adhere to agency policies and procedures, including strict adherence to DV program confidentiality policies and code of ethics.Attend and actively participate in agency meetings as required.Commit to the mission, vision, and values of the organization and DV program.Understanding of domestic violence and program best practices.Ability to work with diverse populations.Ability to interact sensitively with traumatized populations and to handle crisis appropriately.Maintain day-to-day operations at the shelter.Work collaboratively with the Case Manager and other program partners to ensure survivors are accessing needed resources.Support survivors with residential needs such as cleaning, cooking meals, and assisting with children as needed.Consistently maintain a home environment that is both free from hazards and well-maintained through regular cleaning practices, including removing dirt, dust, clutter, while also addressing potential safety concerns.Inform Program Manager of needs of the residence, work orders, and supply orders.Provide information about survivor compensation programs and safe at home application assistance.All other duties as assigned.Skills/Abilities:Strong computer skillsAbility to work independently and part of a teamExcellent written and communication skillsExcellent problem-solving skillsAbility to adapt to a changing environmentAbility to maintain professionalism and demonstrate professional boundaries.Strong attention to detailSensitive to the issues of domestic violence survivors and their children.Education/Experience:High School Diploma or equivalent (required)Associates degree in related fields and/or professional certification in social services, mental health, substance abuse (preferred)One years experience working in social services especially with victims of violence and/or trauma survivors (preferred)Proficiency in Microsoft office suitePhysical/Employment Requirements:Pass pre-employment screeningsAbility to lift-up to 40lbs, stand, and sitMust have reliable transportation, and insurable under agency insurance policy.EEO
