DoW Financial Policy Manager at Guidehouse
JOB DESCRIPTION
Finance & Accounting Consulting Position
Job Family: Finance & Accounting Consulting
Travel Required: Up to 10%
Clearance Required: Active Secret
What You Will Do:
- Conduct research on current and emerging accounting standards and federal financial reporting guidance
- Perform benchmarking on accounting and reporting best practices across the DoW and U.S. government
- Evaluate DoW business practices/processes against current and emerging federal accounting standards and reporting guidance
- Develop position/whitepapers to support the DoW's application of federal financial accounting standards, including developing recommendations
- Present findings, recommendations, analysis of alternatives, or similar to leadership and internal and external stakeholders
- Develop and update financial management policy and reporting guidance
- Support the DoW's engagement with external organizations and working groups on federal accounting and reporting matters such as the U.S. Treasury, the Federal Accounting Standards Advisory Board (FASAB), the Government Accountability Office (GAO), and Office of Management and Budget (OMB).
What You Will Need:
- An ACTIVE and MAINTAINED "SECRET" Federal or DoD security clearance
- Bachelor degree in a business-related field such as finance, accounting, information systems, data analytics, or economics
- TEN (10) or more years of professional experience related to developing financial accounting policy, implementing federal financial accounting standards, and/or federal financial statement preparation and reporting
What Would Be Nice To Have:
- Knowledge of and experience with assessing or applying federal accounting and reporting guidance to include Treasury Financial Manual, United States Standard General Ledger, authoritative guidance issued by the FASAB and GAO, and OMB Circular A-136
- Experience with engaging industry and the standard-setting bodies, including monitoring, reviewing, or commenting on emerging guidance or participating in relevant working groups
- Relevant industry certification such as a CPA, CDFM, CGFM
- Federal audit or audit remediation experience
