Drafter - (Residential Homes) - Full-time at Builders Warehouse

About the Role:

As a Drafter specializing in residential homes, you will play a critical role in transforming architectural concepts and client requirements into detailed technical drawings and plans. Your work will directly contribute to the successful design and construction of residential properties by providing precise and clear documentation for clients, contractors, designers and contractor sales. You will collaborate closely with contractors and contractor sales to ensure that all drawings comply with local building codes, zoning laws, and industry standards. This position requires a keen eye for detail and the ability to interpret complex design specifications into accurate, scalable drawings. Ultimately, your contributions will help create safe, functional, and aesthetically pleasing homes that meet client expectations and regulatory requirements.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Associate degree or certificate in Drafting, Architectural Technology, or a related field.
• Proficiency in computer-aided design (CAD) software such as AutoCAD or SoftPlan.
• 2+ years of experience in drawing/designing is preferred but not required.
• Strong understanding of residential building codes, construction methods, and architectural principles.
• Experience creating detailed technical drawings for residential construction projects.
• Excellent attention to detail and ability to work under deadlines.

Responsibilities:

• Create detailed architectural and structural drawings for residential home projects using CAD software.
• Review and interpret architectural sketches, blueprints, and specifications to produce accurate technical drawings.
• Collaborate with clients, contractors, designers and contractor sales to ensure drawings meet project requirements and comply with building codes.
• Revise and update drawings based on feedback from clients, contractors, designers and contractor sales.
• Maintain organized records of all drawings and related documentation for easy retrieval and reference throughout the project lifecycle.
• Ensure all drawings are dimensionally accurate and include necessary annotations, symbols, and notes.

The required skills such as proficiency in CAD software are essential for producing precise and professional architectural drawings that serve as the foundation for residential construction projects. Strong knowledge of building codes and construction methods ensures that all designs are compliant and feasible, reducing costly revisions during construction.
