TheDriver Trainee gains exposure to warehouse and other operationalfunctions as part of the developmental process of becoming a McLaneDriver. Benefits you can counton:PayRate while in training: $21.00 anhour.Pay Rate:Drivers make $90,000 to $95,000 aftertraining.Day 1 Benefits:medical, dental, and vision insurance, FSA/HSA and company-paidlife insurance.Paid holidays, earn vacationtime, and sick leave accrual from dayone.401(k) Profit Sharing Plan after 90days.Additional benefits: pet insurance,maternity/paternity leave, employee assistance programs, discountprograms, tuition reimbursement program, andmore!What you'll doas a Driver Trainee:Maneuver tractor intoposition to attach trailer and handle lines tosecure.Operates truck in a safe manner incompliance with all local, state, and federal regulations andcompany policies.Inspect tractor-trailerequipment for defects pre/post trip and submit DOT inspectionreport indicating condition.Operates DriverDelivery Handheld (DDH), document delivery receipts/producttemperatures and exceptions. Inspects trailer to ensure product issecure for undamaged transport ofproduct.Rides and trains with Driver Trainerof tractor-trailer to various destinations, gaining knowledge ofcommercial driving regulations and observing the Driver's skill instarting engine properly, approaching intersections, making turns,backing, parking, and maneuvering vehicle on the road and oncustomer premises.Maintain driver log (Manualor PeopleNet) according to DOT regulations, documenting deliveryreceipt, product temperatures andexceptions.Assists the Driver in unloadingtrailer and delivering product into customerpremises.Other duties as assigned.Qualifications you'llbring as a Driver Trainee Teammate:High School Diploma orGED preferred.Be at least 21 years ofage.Meet eligibility requirements in theMcLane Transfer and Promotion Policy.Completetraining and receive Class A CDL in 6 months orless.Ability and willingness toselect/load/unload and/or deliver ALL products that may be orderedby McLane customers.Stand, walk, sit, climb,reach, bend, squat, and stoop to accomplish the essential jobfunctions.Read and comprehend labels,instructions, and bills of lading.Performmathematical calculations to verify quantities ofproduct.Communicate with customers,management, and other teammates.Safely drive atractor-trailer, use a 2-wheeled dolly, ramp, and on boardPeopleNet devices. This position requires theability to read, write, and understand English at a levelsufficient to perform job-related tasks effectively and safely.This includes understanding work instructions, safety protocols,and communications essential to the role.
