If this sounds like a family, you’d like to become a member of, we’d love to hear from you!PURPOSE OF POSITION: Works with an experienced team of 2 teachers to provide children with developmentally appropriate activities in a quality early childhood program that offers a safe and nurturing environment while promoting physical, social, emotional, and intellectual development of young children and families. There is a focus on consistency in teaching daily routines and schedules. The social-Emotional development of each child is important. There may be Behavior Plans or IFSPs/IEPs written by professionals that must be implemented by this teacher as well as the full-time co-teachers.The Third Teacher is assigned to a specific classroom where a child with challenging behavior or moderate to severe disability is enrolled. This teacher works 5 ½ hours per day for a period of 3 months. The start date and end date are determined by the CC and Curriculum/Inclusion Specialist. Evaluation of the progress of behaviors or progress of the child with a disability and the classroom social-emotional climate will be evaluated every two weeks.The Third teacher is part of the daily staffing in the classroom they are assigned. Since children with Challenging Behavior/Moderate to severe disabilities have high needs for 1) social-emotional support and 2) consistency, it is of utmost importance that the 3 teachers in the classroom be present throughout each day as scheduled. Children with disabilities also need help with the everyday routines and activities of the classroom.The Third Teacher Performance Standard explains in detail the essential duties and responsibilities of this position and must be used as an integral part of this Job Description.The Early Childhood Specialist provides guidance and direction for educational services and jointly, with the Center Coordinator, evaluates the job performance of the Third Teacher.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: include the following; however, other duties may be assigned:Works as part of a teaching team to:Support a warm, secure, affectionate, social-emotional classroom for young children, following the RCMA Positive Discipline guidance. (Note: Lifting, touching, and holding a child is necessary.)Support a high-quality early childhood education program and early intervention services, using the High Scope curriculum activities and daily routines and schedules.Consistently use classroom rules and procedures that establish and maintain a safe and healthy classroom and outside environment. Collaboratively support a sense of community and inclusion among the children and teachers.Implement the IFSP/IEP for the child with a disability OR Behavior Plan for a child with challenging behavior.Adherence to all RCMA funding and DCF requirements.EDUCATION:High School Diploma or equivalentDESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:Member of the community being served and, when applicable, farmworker background.Possess a current certification in Pediatric Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and Pediatric First-Aid.RCMA is an equal opportunity/affirmative action employer and a drug‑free workplace.
