This role involves supervising and guiding a group of young learners through developmentally appropriate activities aligned with the Primrose Balanced Learning curriculum while ensuring adherence to health, safety, and regulatory standards. The ideal candidate is a dedicated professional with a passion for early childhood education, capable of multitasking, maintaining professionalism, and collaborating effectively with colleagues and families. We are continuously working toward our mission of building a brighter future for all childrennot only those who are able to attend a Primrose schooland every member of our organization plays a critical role in accomplishing that mission.OBJECTIVESResponsible for the overall supervision and daily class functions of a group of children.Observes all rules and regulations at Primrose School and the local, state or national regulatory agencies pertaining to the health, safety and care of children.Assesses each child's developmental needs on an ongoing basis.Implements the approved lesson plans and daily classroom schedule in accordance with the Primrose Balanced Learning curriculum and programming.Plans with a member of the Leadership Team the parent-teacher conferences and student evaluations.Maintains an attractive, well-kept classroom that encourages children to create, explore and make decisions with confidence.Provides verbal recognition and acceptance to children while providing clear and consistent expectations for the children's behavior.Accepts responsibility for maintenance and necessary housekeeping duties of the classroom, common use areas and playgrounds.Attends all required staff meetings, workshops and/or school functions.Maintains overall professional personal appearance adhering to the guidelines offered in the Primrose School Employee HandbookAssist in other capacities that the Director, or designee, determines is necessary.COMPETENCIESUnderstanding developmental milestones and how to support physical, emotional, cognitive, and social growth.Ability to deliver age-appropriate lesson plans that foster learning and exploration.Establishing a structured, safe, and engaging learning environment that promotes positive behavior.Building strong partnerships with parents and caregivers to support childrens learning and developmentManaging and resolving conflicts between children in a constructive and supportive mannerMaintaining professionalism, confidentiality, and integrity in all interactionsEDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE1+ years of experience teaching or assistant teaching position in a licensed early childhood program preferredKnowledge of the social, emotional and creative needs of young childrenMust meet basic requirements of local child care regulatory agency (completion of at least 12 semester units in ECE or child development OR hold a CDA)Infant - Preschool Teachers: 2 year degree in early childhood or related field preferredPre-Kindergarten Teachers: 4 year degree in early childhood or related field requiredKindergarten Teacher: 4 year degree in early childhood and certified to teach in the state in which the school operates requiredPHYSICAL REQUIREMENTSMust be able to lift up to 35 lbs. in connection with the handling of children for the facilitation of programs, child safety, and potential emergency situations.For Infant and Young Toddler teachers, they must be able to properly lift infants into and out of a crib.COMMITMENT TO DIVERSITYAs an equal opportunity employer committed to meeting the needs of a multicultural workforce, Primrose Schools recognizes that a diverse staff, reflective of our community, is an integral and welcome part of a successful and ethical business.
