Job DescriptionJob DescriptionSummaryDynamic teaching position supporting all classrooms serving children from birth through age five. Maintain consistent quality of care and education while adapting to different age groups, teaching styles, and classroom needs. Implement curriculum aligned with Connecticut Early Learning and Development Standards (CT ELDS) while providing coverage and support across all early childhood programs.DutiesAdaptable Classroom SupportProvide coverage in all classrooms (infant, toddler, and preschool) as neededAdapt teaching style and approach to match each age group's developmental needsSupport implementation of classroom-specific routines and schedulesMaintain consistency with established classroom management systemsFollow individual classroom curriculum plans and daily activitiesSupport CT ELDS implementation across age groupsAssist with transitions between activitiesMaintain flexibility to shift between classrooms as neededAge-Appropriate Care and EducationInfant Care (Birth-18 months)Support individual feeding and sleeping schedulesProvide nurturing physical and emotional careImplement appropriate sensory and developmental activitiesSupport gross motor development and tummy timeFollow safe sleep practicesDocument daily care routinesToddler Support (18-36 months)Support toilet training initiativesEncourage emerging independenceFacilitate early language developmentGuide positive peer interactionsSupport physical development through active playMaintain consistent behavioral expectationsPreschool Assistance (3-5 years)Support implementation of structured learning activitiesAssist with small and large group instructionEncourage problem-solving and critical thinkingSupport emerging academic skillsFoster social skill developmentGuide independent play and explorationHealth and SafetyMaintain knowledge of health protocols for all age groupsFollow proper sanitization procedures for each classroomImplement age-appropriate safety measuresSupport proper hand washing and hygiene practicesAssist with meal and snack time proceduresFollow proper diapering and toileting proceduresMaintain safe sleep practices for infantsMonitor indoor and outdoor environments for safetyCommunication and DocumentationCommunicate effectively with all teaching teamsSupport documentation systems in each classroomMaintain confidentiality across all programsShare relevant observations with classroom teachersAssist with daily communication to familiesDocument accidents or incidents as requiredSupport DOTS assessment documentationMaintain accurate attendance recordsProfessional ResponsibilitiesMaintain knowledge of developmental needs across age groupsAttend required staff meetings and trainingsParticipate in professional development opportunitiesBuild positive relationships with all staff membersFollow center policies and proceduresSupport program quality improvement effortsAssist with special events and family engagementParticipate in team planning as neededRequirementsA current Child Development Associate (CDA) credential issued by the Council for Professional Recognition.OrA CDA Credential equivalent as defined by NAEYC as at least 12 college credits in early childhood education, child development, elementary education, or early childhood special education.OrHigh school diploma or equivalent, must earn a Child Development Associate (CDA) or be enrolled in an accredited Early Childhood Education college/university degree program within the first year of employment.High energy.Ability to work well with others.Strong oral and written communication skills and basic computer skills. An understanding of child development.Excellent leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skills.Infant/child CPR and First Aid certification.Must clear full background check and must pass health screening.
