After full time training, you will deploy on rotation to EU external borders or, when required, third countries.As Deputy Section Leader (DSL) you:Act as main Frontex contact for Host Country authoritiesSupport and replace the Section LeaderAssist FCC in implementing the Operational Plan and ensuring fundamental rights complianceCoordinate activities and deployed resources with Host Country authoritiesMonitor operational needs and report changes to FCCOversee information gathering and reportingSupervise Group Leaders and working time managementEnsure timely daily updatesReport conduct or fundamental rights concernsLead briefings, crisis meetings and debriefingsMaintain chain of command and promote cohesion and readinessAs Head of Operational Horizontal Activities you lead a team in one of three domains:1) LogisticsManage inventory, distribution, fleet, facilities, PPE and weaponsProvide logistical support and advise FCCOversee asset controls, inventories and hand over processesManage procurement, petty cash and reportingConduct safety and risk assessments and identify training needs2) Information and IntelligenceCoordinate information collection with OMD, RET and FCCValidate incidents in JORA and link with EUROSURSupport information management, including mediaProvide situational assessments and short term analysisCoordinate debriefing tasks, develop SOPs and ensure facility securityManage interpreters, ICM and information related risks3) Operational CoordinationMonitor operational areas and propose plan adjustmentsVerify equipment deployments and support planningCoordinate training events and lessons learnedPrepare resource allocation proposals and operational updatesContribute to OPLANs, FERs and evaluationsManage SOPs, SIRs and JORA access and support crisis response and cooperation with Host Country authoritiesEligibility:Citizenship of an EU Member State or Schengen Associated CountryUniversity degree of at least four years, or three years plus one year of additional experienceMinimum 9 years professional experience, including 5 years in leadership roles in border management, policing, customs, defence, return, logistics or related security fieldsClean criminal record and readiness to carry and use service weaponsPhysical fitness for operational and training dutiesEnglish at B2 level or higherValid category B manual driving licenceCompetences:Strong decision making in complex and fast changing situationsMotivation to serve as a Standing Corps OfficerAbility to act as a role model within a law enforcement cultureIntegrity, responsibility and professional conductPsychological resilience and physical readinessExcellent leadership and resource management skillsStrong communication and ability to simplify complex topicsAbility to work effectively with multinational teams and partnersUnderstanding of EU institutions, relevant legislation and operational cooperationAwareness of fundamental rights requirementsICT skills relevant to operational settingsAssets:Experience in national authority headquarters, EU institutions or international organisationsExperience as Group Leader within FrontexFive year temporary contract (renewable once) with nine month probationCompetitive AD8 salary, including management allowance, expatriation or foreign residence allowance and family allowances depending on personal situationAdditional shift and standby allowances where applicableFull time Operational Training Programme covering border and coast guard topics, leadership, physical training, use of force, shooting and an Experiential Learning PhaseDeployment to EU external borders and, when required, third countriesRotational assignments including shift work, nights and weekendsEU social security package including JSIS health insurance, pension scheme and unemployment coverageInternational, operationally dynamic working environment with continuous training and development opportunities
