Frontex is the European Border and Coast Guard Agency supporting EU Member States and Schengen Associated Countries in managing the EU's external borders. As part of the European Border and Coast Guard Standing Corps, officers work in diverse and demanding environments where professionalism, cooperation and respect for fundamental rights are essential.We offer an international workplace with colleagues from across Europe, extensive operational training and opportunities to contribute directly to the security and stability of the European Union. Officers deployed by Frontex work alongside national authorities and support daily border management tasks in the field.As an Officer – Team Member in the European Border and Coast Guard Standing Corps, you will work at the frontline of EU border and migration management. Following a full time Operational Training Programme, you will be deployed on rotation to EU external borders or, when required, third countries.Your core duties include:Carrying out border checks, border surveillance and patrol activitiesScreening, fingerprinting and registering migrants and gathering informationPerforming identity, document and vehicle checks and supporting the prevention of cross border crimeAssisting return operations after completing specialised trainingOperating EU border management systems and technical equipmentIdentifying and supporting vulnerable persons and people in need of international protectionSupporting logistics and supply chain functions during operationsWorking in multinational teams and supporting team and section leadersCooperating with Fundamental Rights Monitors as requiredThe role involves physical tasks, shift work and deployment to challenging operational environments. Officers must act with responsibility, integrity and readiness to use force when necessary and in accordance with applicable law.Eligibility requirements:Citizenship of an EU Member State or Schengen Associated CountryUniversity degree of at least three years (EQF level 6 or higher) or recognised professional training in a public uniformed service plus the required experienceClean criminal record (issued within the last six months) and readiness to carry and use service weapons, ammunition and equipmentPhysical fitness for training and operational dutiesEnglish language proficiency at B2 level or higherValid category B manual driving licence at the time of applicationCompetences and personal attributes:Strong motivation to serve as a Standing Corps OfficerIntegrity, professionalism and responsibilityAbility to work under pressure, in shifts and in harsh weather conditionsTeam player with strong communication skills in a multicultural environmentPsychological resilience and physical readiness for demanding dutiesBasic knowledge of EU institutions and EU border, coast guard or return related activitiesAwareness of fundamental rights and their implementation in law enforcement and migration managementICT skills relevant to operational scenariosNice to have:Experience of at least six months working in a multicultural environment, ideally abroadFive year contract as contract staff (renewable once) with nine month probation Attractive EU salary package with basic pay and allowances including expatriation or foreign residence allowance, household allowance and child and education allowances depending on personal situation Additional shift and standby allowances where applicable Full time Operational Training Programme including border and coast guard topics, physical training, use of force, shooting instruction and an experiential learning phase Deployment opportunities across EU external borders and, when required, third countries Rotational assignments that may include night shifts, weekends and challenging conditions EU social security package including JSIS health insurance, pension scheme and unemployment coverage A highly international and operationally focused environment with significant development opportunities
