For more information please visit Position Summary:The Math Teacher provides academic instruction and socioemotional support to at-risk youth grades 7-12 in an alternative school an open small classroom environment the Math Teacher must demonstrate a high degree of flexibility in serving the individualized instructional needs of the students assigned to the class. The Math Teacher must be able to work in a team environment with other educators special education staff counselors and social workers. The Math Teacher should possess a high degree of authenticity kindness and empathy while effectively maintaining a classroom atmosphere conducive to academic and socioemotional growth.Duties & ResponsibilitiesFacilitate Learningo Develop a classroom culture where the Teacher is viewed as facilitator of the learning process and not a lecturero Plans prepares and implements lesson plans that facilitate active learningo Provides personalized support to each student to develop learning plans that matches each students needs and abilitieso Utilizes Project-Based Learning (PBL) techniqueso Leverages technology to support and differentiate instructiono Develops a multi-sensory learning environmentFacilitate Socioemotional Developmento Provides diverse opportunities to develop and enhance students social and emotional skillso Promotes the overall wellness (physical mental social emotional) of each studentConduct Assessmentso Assigns and grades classwork homework test and assignmentso Monitors the progress of individual students and uses information to adjust facilitation strategieso Maintains accurate and complete records of students progressDevelop Positive Classroom Cultureo Builds positive compassionate classroom communities that engage learnerso Implements evidenced based classroom management and positive behavior support strategiesOther Dutieso Actively participates in department school district and parent meetingso Initiates and maintains close contact with parents/guardians of each studento Communicates information regularly to students parents and districts regarding student progress and student needso Updates all necessary records accurately and completely as required by laws district policies and school regulationso Assesses records and reports on the development progress goal attainment and behavior of studentso Attends meetings as scheduled and necessary with counselors other staff and other members of the Public School DistrictSkills & Knowledge:Leadership and soft skills:o Excellent communication and relationship building skillso Ability to work effectively on a multi-treatment teamTechnical skills:o Proficient in subject matter taughto Knowledge and experience with Microsoft programsEducation & Experience:Bachelors Degree and Pennsylvania Teaching Certification in subject taught.Other Duties:This job description does not contain a comprehensive listing of activities duties or responsibilities that are required of the employee for this job.
