Job DescriptionJob DescriptionThis position is located at Marshall County Coal Resources in Cameron, West Virginia. We are seeking hard working, motivated individuals for an experienced level mining position and is assigned to the underground mining operations.This position maintains an effective safety program and rapport with safety representatives from government agencies and other organizations. This position would report to the Safety Director of the mine.Pay Type: SalaryEssential Job Duties and ResponsibilitiesExamines areas of the mine or surface to maintain a safe work environmentConfers with management representatives to advise of hazardsParticipates in the investigation and review of all serious accidents, disabling injuries, fatalities and major disastersConducts mine inspections and accident investigationsProvides recommendations to prevent unsafe or hazardous conditions from reoccurringMaintains a violation log and report fileConducts dust sampling and noise level readingsMaintains appropriate results dataMaintains a working knowledge of safety codes, laws and regulationsProvides first aid and ambulance service for injured mine personnelInspects first aid stations, supplies and equipment; restocks as necessarySuggest proper personal protective devices for employeesMaintains and controls SCSRs on mantrips as well as other vehicles and storage stationsConducts 90-day inspectionsConducts MSHA required noise surveysSubmits MSHA required reports and health standard compliance notificationCalibrates safety testing instruments and maintains recordsUpdates task training and annual refresher training filesHazard train visitors, contractors, vendors, or other company personnel before they enter the mineTravels with Federal and State mine inspectors throughout the mine, documenting findings, and reporting them to Mine ManagementRecords citations issued and due date for abatementFaxes copy of citations to corporate safetyExperienceMust have a minimum of 2+ years of related experience in mine operations, electrical or safety experience, preferredAssociates Degree in Industrial Health and Safety, preferredMay require MSHA Instructor, Underground Mine Foreman, Fireboss, First-Aid, Dust and Noise Sampling CertificationRequirementsMust be 18 years of ageHigh School Diploma or GED, requiredMust possess effective verbal communication skillsDetail orientedMust possess basic computer skills; knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Word and ExcelRequires thorough knowledge of coal mining operations; including but not limited to safety, welding/fabrication, production, maintenance, economics, equipment usage, and staff utilizationRegular and punctual attendanceReliable transportationMust be able to work safely and effectively as part of a team or independentlyThose interested must be able to obtain all applicable Federal and State underground and surface certifications and successfully complete industry approved training courses.Must be able to successfully pass a post offer drug test and background checkAbility to work in the United States without sponsorshipJob Schedule and Physical DemandsMust be able to work overtime, weekends and holidays as schedule requires (subject to applicant’s religious practices)Must be able to work a rotating shift schedule (subject to the applicant’s religious practices)Must be able to work on heightsAbility to lift floor-to-waist and waist-to-overheadAbility to push/pull as neededStanding, bending, step climbing, crawling and working overheadAbility to perform heavy labor and lift 50+ pounds as neededBenefits401k with 6% employer match for eligible employeesEmployee Savings Plans for eligible employeesComprehensive medical, dental, vision & Rx benefitsBasic Life/ADD Insurance; optional Term Life, Accidental Life InsuranceAdditional Critical Illness, Hospital Indemnity and Accident Insurance benefits for eligible employeesShort and Long-Term Disability benefits for eligible employeesMonthly & annual bonus plans for eligible employeesPaid holidays & paid vacation
