City of Jacksonville employees are also eligible for Federal Student Loan Forgiveness after ten (10) years of public service and on-time payments.This is entry level clerical support work in the registration of voters processing and maintenance of voter registration records. Work requires knowledge of uninvolved standardized work routines of election laws regulations and procedures and office practices and procedures. Contacts require courtesy tact and effectiveness in dealing with others and include contacts to request or provide information ask questions and/or obtain clarification. The work is performed following established routines standing instructions and established procedures but some variation in the sequence and choice of procedures used is permitted based on situations encountered in the workplace. The work is patterned involving similar situations and generally requiring only the choice of the correct procedure. Work is normally performed in an office environment though the employee may be required to deliver or pick-up mail documents supplies or materials. Operates standard office equipment such as personal computer. The physical demands consist mainly of moving from one work location to another sitting or standing at a workstation for extended periods of time and dependent upon assigned work location may be required to lift objects weighing up to twenty (20) pounds. The work is performed under general supervision where the work assignments are subject to instructions and established work routines and the worker is given latitude to rearrange the sequence based on changing work situations or workflow.Examples of WorkProvides registration and voting information in response to telephone inquiries.Receives processes records indexes and/or files varied materials files documents and records regarding voter registration application and forms; enters absentee ballot requests.Assists with post-elections processing and canvassing board responsibilities.Gathers information and assists the general public in completing required forms and documents.Reviews documents and files for completion and accuracy and routes to proper sources.Establishes and maintains information records documents and file systems.Operates standard office equipment such as personal computer using word processing spreadsheet database and other related software and required voting equipment.Picks up and/or delivers a variety of mail documents materials and supplies which may require operation of a motor vehicle.Demonstrates proficiency in the City of Jacksonvilles competencies.Performs related work as required.Knowledge Skills and AbilitiesKnowledge of election laws rules regulations and procedures.Knowledge of office practices and procedures.Knowledge of Business English.Skill in establishing and maintaining information records documents and file systems. Ability to match names and numbers. Ability to file both numerically and alphabetically. Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.Ability to read understand and apply job related materials. Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations.Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.Ability to operate standard office equipment such as personal computer using word processing spreadsheet database and other related software and required voting equipment.Dependent upon assignment ability to operate a motor vehicle.Open Requirements/Supplemental InformationAbility to read write and communicate in English. One (1) year of education and/or experience in clerical work - preferred. Experience in an election office - preferred. LICENSING/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRATION: Depending on assignment must possess and maintain a valid drivers license during employment in this class.Must qualify for obtain and maintain a City of Jacksonville public driver certification for employment in this class.OTHER REQUIREMENTS: The probationary period for this classification is six (6) months.A FULLY COMPLETED ONLINE APPLICATION IS REQUIRED.Apply at.
