See how your contributions will help transform vision into reality:Position Overview:As part of the talented Brunswick Boat Group Design team you will be responsible for researching generating developing and implementing electrical systems for all existing products. This will include use of Computer Aided Engineering (CAE) tools to ensure designs are robust and manufacturing friendly. These systems must meet all necessary internal quality and supplier requirements and be executed in the most cost -effective manner.At Brunswick we have passion for our work and a distinct ability to deliver. Essential Functions:Define requirements and component specifications for electrical panels wiring harnesses and electrical systemsDesign main distribution switch and instrument panels for AC and DC electrical systemsEnsure and/or acquire component and system compliance with industry standardsUpdate electrical and electronic system designs for customer convenience and production plant labor reduction and manufacturabilityUpdate current product to incorporate new technologies and features to meet consumer expectationsConduct product research on electrical and electronic equipment and componentsInterface with propulsion and project groups for system layoutsGenerate engineering drawings for updated designs and approve all electrical prints for boat release to productionCreate and validate load calculations based on ABYC/IOS/CE and Australian standards for AC and DC electrical systemsDetermine shore power configuration and generator size (120-V 240-V 50/60 Hertz)Determine grounding and galvanic protection requirements for AC and DC electrical systemDetermine battery and charging system requirements for DC electrical systemsProvide technical expertise to project groups and ensure consistency between all group electrical documentation methods and practicesSupports Manufacturing and Customer Service on issues resolutionGenerate Engineering Change Notices (ECN) as requiredDrive implementation of ECNs as neededBuild or rework prototype and production harnesses as neededOn floor support of prototype buildsPerform incoming inspections on electrical components panels and harnesses as neededInstall test and troubleshoot AC/DC electrical circuits components or systems to ensure proper operation as neededTroubleshoot production and field opportunities using root cause methodologyReview and approve owners manuals for accurate and complete electrical descriptions and informationWork with suppliers on the development of electrical systems and components to ensure continuous improvement in the quality and value of our boats systemsParticipate in continuous improvement activitiesAttain ABYC certification in all electrical categoriesPerform final electrical design verification testsMaintain direct and frequent interface with Brunswick companies to ensure consistency throughout the organizationEnsure timely and adequate completion of all applicable phases of projectApply relevant Voice of the Customer and systems engineering input to designs.Must be willing to travel (minimum 10%).Diversity of thought and experiences is fundamental when imagining the unimaginable. Certain skillsets/experiences are necessary; however others can be developed along the way. Required Qualifications:Bachelor Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent technical experience required3-5 years of electrical product design experience with knowledge of manufacturing/production processesComputer Aided Design experience: AutoCAD Unigraphics SolidWorks Capitol Catia or Pro E preferred. 3-D modeling skills desirableExperience with multiplexing/digital switching telematics and marine electronics desirable.Knowledge of standards applied by the American Boat & Yacht Council (ABYC)Boating experience is desiredCommitment to quality and standards that are accepted by the industryMust interface well with other employees and departments throughout Brunswick as well as outside vendors dealers and retail customersMust be able to work extra hours required to ensure timely completion of critical projectsProficiency in all Microsoft office applicationsProblem solving and decision-making abilitiesWorking Conditions: While performing the duties of this job the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts; high precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; and toxic or caustic chemicals. The noise level in the workenvironment is usually moderate. While performing the duties of this job the employee is frequently required to stand walk and sit. The employee is occasionally required to use hands to handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; and stoop kneel crouch or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision distance vision color vision peripheral vision depth perception and ability to adjust focusWhile performing the duties of this job the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts; high precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; and toxic or caustic chemicals. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.The anticipated pay range for this position is $57700 to $92600 annually. The actual base pay offered will vary depending on multiple factors including job-related knowledge/skills relevant experience business needs and geographic addition to base pay this position is eligible for an annual discretionary bonus. At Brunswick it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top end of the salary range for their role.
