Job Description

Job Title: Electrical Estimator

Department: Pre-Construction

Reports To: Chief Estimator

Location: Greensboro, NC

Pay Range: $75,000 - $100,000

Position Summary

The Electrical Estimator is responsible for preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates for commercial and/or industrial electrical construction projects. This role analyzes drawings, specifications, and other documentation to determine labor, material, and time requirements, helping ensure projects are bid competitively and profitably.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review project plans, specifications, and bid documents to develop detailed cost estimates
  • Perform quantity take-offs for electrical systems (power, lighting, low voltage, etc.)
  • Solicit and evaluate vendor and subcontractor quotes
  • Prepare and submit complete bid packages within deadlines
  • Identify risks, opportunities, and value engineering options
  • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and field teams
  • Maintain accurate cost databases and historical records
  • Attend pre-bid meetings and site visits as needed
  • Assist with project handoff to operations after award

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience in electrical estimating
  • Knowledge of commercial and/or industrial electrical systems
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and specifications
  • Strong mathematical and analytical skills
  • Proficiency in estimating software (e.g., Accubid, McCormick) and Microsoft Excel
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Electrical field experience (electrician, foreman, or similar)
  • Experience with design-build projects
  • Familiarity with NEC (National Electrical Code)
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field (preferred but not required)
