Job DescriptionJob DescriptionAn established electrical contractor in Lenexa is seeking an experienced Electrical Estimator to support project planning and execution through accurate cost analysis and comprehensive bid development. The Electrical Estimator will interpret blueprints and specifications, prepare detailed scope letters, conduct takeoffs using Accubid or similar platforms, and collaborate with project managers to ensure cost accuracy across all project phases.What We Offer – Benefits & CompensationAnnual salary: $60,000–$130,000 based on experience and qualificationsCompetitive benefits packageLong-term employment with growth opportunitiesCollaborative team environment focused on employee investmentKey Responsibilities – Electrical EstimatorPrepare detailed cost estimates for commercial and industrial electrical projects including plan-spec and design-buildPerform quantitative takeoffs from blueprints, specifications, and technical documents using Accubid/Anywhere or equivalent softwareWrite and review scope letters to clarify project requirements and exclusionsRequest and evaluate material and equipment quotes from vendors and suppliersAttend pre-bid meetings and job site walk-throughs to assess field conditions that may impact pricingCollaborate with project managers to ensure all cost aspects are accurately evaluated and documentedAnalyze project risk, labor requirements, and material costs to maintain competitive bid pricingApply NEC 2020 (and prior editions) and engineering best practices to all estimate reviewsMaintain organized estimate files and generate bid summaries for internal review and client submissionQualifications – Electrical EstimatorMinimum 5 years of electrical estimating experience including design-build projectsDemonstrated experience with industrial and commercial plan-spec and design-build electrical workDeep understanding of industry standards, construction practices, and current market conditionsProficiency with Accubid/Anywhere or comparable electrical estimating softwareStrong knowledge of NEC 2020 code and earlier editions, with ability to apply code requirements to cost estimatesProficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel for documentation, analysis, and reportingAbility to interpret blueprints, specifications, and technical drawings accuratelyExperience writing and reviewing scope letters and bid proposalsTeam-oriented mindset with strong communication and collaboration skillsSelf-motivated with ability to work independently and find solutions under deadlinesPreferred Qualifications – Electrical Estimation ProfessionalExperience with Trimble LiveCount or other graphical takeoff toolsFamiliarity with project management software and bid tracking systemsBackground in electrical contracting or field experienceProfessional certifications such as Certified Professional Estimator (CPE)Advanced Excel skills including formulas, pivot tables, and macrosPhysical Requirements – Electrical EstimatorAbility to sit at a desk and work on a computer for extended periodsOccasional site visits requiring walking, standing, and navigating construction environmentsAbility to lift and carry project documents, rolled blueprints, and equipment up to 25 poundsVisual acuity to review detailed technical drawings and specifications on-screen and in printManual dexterity for operating computer, phone, and office equipment
