We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Electro-Mechanical Assembly Technician with at least five years of hands-on experience to join our team in Massachusetts. In this role, you will be responsible for assembling, testing, troubleshooting, and maintaining electro-mechanical systems and subassemblies in accordance with engineering specifications, drawings, and quality standards. Key Responsibilities
- Assemble electro-mechanical components, subassemblies, and finished products using hand tools, power tools, and specialized equipment in accordance with engineering drawings, schematics, and work instructions.
- Perform electrical wiring, harness assembly, and cable routing, including soldering, crimping, and connector installation to IPC/WHMA-A-620 or equivalent standards.
- Read and interpret mechanical drawings, electrical schematics, bills of materials (BOMs), and assembly procedures to ensure accurate and repeatable builds.
- Conduct functional testing, continuity checks, and quality inspections on completed assemblies; document results and identify nonconformances.
- Troubleshoot and diagnose mechanical and electrical faults in assemblies; perform rework and repairs as needed.
- Operate and maintain production equipment, calibrated test fixtures, and hand tools; identify and report equipment issues.
- Collaborate with engineers, quality assurance, and production teams to resolve design or process issues and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
- Maintain an organized, clean, and safe work environment in compliance with EHS policies and company quality requirements.
- Accurately record production data, traveler documentation, and test results in paper-based or electronic systems (ERP/MES).
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 5 years of hands-on electro-mechanical assembly experience in a manufacturing, defense, medical device, or industrial environment.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, and wiring diagrams.
- Demonstrated experience with soldering (through-hole and SMT), wire harness assembly, and connector installation.
- Strong working knowledge of hand tools, torque tools, and bench-top test equipment (multimeters, oscilloscopes, power supplies).
- Familiarity with quality management systems and standards (ISO 9001, AS9100, IPC-A-610, IPC/WHMA-A-620).
- High attention to detail with a commitment to producing quality work on the first pass.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills; ability to document work clearly and accurately.
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of IPC/WHMA-A-620 or IPC-A-610.
- Experience in defense, aerospace, medical device, or telecom manufacturing environments.
- Familiarity with ERP/MES systems (e.g., SAP, NetSuite, Epicor).
- Experience with automated test equipment (ATE) and functional test procedures.
- Associate's degree or technical certificate in Electronics Technology, Electro-Mechanical Technology, or a related field.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift 35 lbs unassisted.
- Prolonged periods of standing, sitting at a workbench, and performing fine motor tasks.
- Good hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity required for precision assembly work.
- Ability to wear required PPE, including ESD protection, safety glasses, and gloves as applicable.
