November 25 2025A N T I C I P A T E D V A C A N C YThe following long-term substitute position may be availablefor the 2nd semester of the 25-26 SY.LTS TEACHER OF GIFTED LEARNERSElementary LevelQualifications:PA Instructional certificate in Elementary Education requiredMasters degree in education or gifted education preferredExperience working with gifted and advanced studentsKnowledge of the characteristics of gifted learnersKnowledge of Chapter16 regulationsKnowledge of curriculum and instructional practices for gifted studentsStrong commitment to gifted education and meeting the needs of gifted studentsAbility to collaborate with teachers to create a challenging and exciting atmosphere in the regular classroomAbility to differentiate curriculum and instructional materials to meet the needs of gifted and advanced learnersAbility to use technology for analyzing data productivity and communicationCoursework and experience in gifted education preferredExperience with K-6 Math curriculum preferredResponsibilities:Stay current in PA Chapter 16 legislation case law and gifted education curricular instructional and assessment issuesAssist building principals teachers and the Office of Student Services in identification of gifted studentsCoordinate and assist in completing the gifted identification referral process to determine students eligible for gifted programmingServe as a coach and resource person for the classroom teachers providing materials methods and strategies to ensure appropriate educational experiences for the gifted student in the regular classroomDevelop and implement a flexible individualized enriching curriculum appropriate to meeting the individual gifted pupils needs and nurturing group interactionCreate an environment in which the gifted learner can use their strengths explore their personal and interpersonal development risk new areas of thought and action and feel challengedDesigning and/or selecting appropriate instructional modifications for gifted and advanced students and coordinating these activities with other teachers as appropriatePrepare implement and evaluate an annual educational plan for gifted students based on individually assessed needs in accordance with district procedures and Chapter16 regulationsProvide specialized instruction to individual and small groups of gifted studentsProvide information to community groups and parents concerning gifted programs as requested or needed and as approved by the immediate supervisorProvide ongoing and regular communication with building principals teachers and parents regarding classroom activities and student progress and attend open houses and other parent meetings regarding gifted children.All applicants who are interested in filling this position must apply online at .
