Job Description

Classroom TeacherThe teaching position varies by school subject and grade but typically includes responsibilities such as teaching student management administrative tasks and extracurricular activities. All employees must adhere to the Board Policy the Districts Procedural Manual and the Common Contract.General Purpose:To plan organize and deliver an instructional program that helps students achieve their academic potential.Main Job Tasks and Responsibilities:Plan preparee and deliver instructional activities that facilitate active learning experiences - this may include explaining new ideas and unfamiliar concepts with authority and clearly and concisely so that students can understandDevelop schemes of work and lesson plansEstablish and communicate clear objectives for all learning activitiesPrepare the classroom for class activitiesProvide a variety of learning materials and resources for use in educational activitiesIdentify and select different instructional resources and methods to meet students varying needsInstruct and monitor students in the use of learning materials and equipmentUse relevant technology to support instructionObserve and evaluate students performance and developmentAssign and grade classwork homework tests and assignmentsProvide appropriate feedback on workEncourage and monitor the progress of individual studentsMaintain accurate and complete records of students progress and developmentUpdate all necessary records accurately and completely as required by law district policies and school regulationsPrepare required reports on students and activitiesManage student behavior in the classroom by establishing and enforcing rules and proceduresMaintain discipline in accordance with the rules and disciplinary systems of the schoolApply appropriate disciplinary measures where necessaryParticipate in department and school meetings parent meetingsClearly communicate necessary information to students colleagues and parents regarding student progress and student needsKeep updated with developments in the subject area teaching resources and methods and make relevant changes to instructional plans and activitiesEducation and Experience:Bachelors degree or higher from an accredited institutionMeet professional teacher education requirements of the school district and stateSingle-subject teaching credential or certification if teaching a specialized subjectState certificationRelevant teaching experienceKnowledge of relevant technologyNon-licensed applicants:An Associate Educator License (AEL) from the Utah State Board of Education is required.
