Job Description:Reporting to the Director of Advising & LifeMap, the ELL Success Coach (Academic Counselor) supports the semester-to-semester persistence and overall success of students enrolled in Academic English Language Learner (AELL) courses. This position utilizes high impact practices to provide holistic coaching with emphasis on academic planning, career exploration, course registration, and a successful transition into the college community. The ELL Success Coach plays a key role in helping multilingual students navigate BHCC's academic pathways, connect with campus resources, and reach their academic, transfer, and career goals.Responsibilities:Provide group and individual academic and career coaching for AELL students.Help students set and achieve academic, transfer, and career goals.Advise on programs, pathways, and courses aligned with English placement and interests.Support career exploration and development of educational résumés.Teach use of tools such as BHCC Self-Service, Career Coach, Transferology, and MassHire CIS.Guide students through transfer planning, including MassTransfer and BHCC agreements.Monitor progress, address academic challenges, and assist with SAP, appeals, and Fresh Start.Conduct class visits and workshops integrating LifeMap resources into AELL courses.Collaborate with faculty and staff to enhance advising, retention, and student success.Maintain records, document sessions, and engage in professional development and planningWork on campus Mondays 9:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m., Tuesdays 10:00 a.m.-6:00 p.m., every other Friday, and one Saturday per month during Start Now/peak registration period.Requirements:Master's degree in Education, Counseling, Psychology or a closely related field and three (3) years of experience and/or training involving advising, counseling and/or student recruitment and retention; or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.Preferred Requirements:Experience working with multilingual, multicultural, or English Language Learner populations.Knowledge of academic advising principles and student success practices in higher education.Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.Proficiency in technology tools such as student information systems, advising software, and Microsoft Office Suite.Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, student-centered environment.Experience in community college or open-access higher education settings.Students attending BHCC come from a variety of cultural, linguistic, and socioeconomic backgrounds, and we are dedicated to providing them with the support they need to succeed. While not required, the ability to read, speak, and write in Spanish is preferred.Additional Information:Salary: $70,929.00 - $76,416.00 (Actual Salary Will Be Commensurate With Education and Experience in Accordance with MCCC/MTA Collective Bargaining Agreement.) Grade 5, Unit Professional Position.
