At our core we are Advanced Energy powering the future together.POSITION SUMMARY: Advanced Energy RF Delivery Systems (RFDS) is looking for an Embedded Engineer (FPGA) for its New Product Development (NPD) team to design and develop software controls for our RF Generator Systems used in Plasma Power applications.The Embedded Engineer (FPGA) will work with a multi-disciplined product delivery team of RF Electrical Mechanical and other Firmware Engineers to design modify and evaluate embedded software and/or programmable logic and/or electronic apparatus components or circuitry for use in electronic equipment and devices. You will perform engineering work in the design of new products and/or sustaining of existing products.RESPONSIBILITIES:Be a critical member of the product development engineering team and participate in all phases of the FPGA development life cycle. Work closely with cross functional members of the engineering organization to decompose system level requirements. Develop and evaluate interfaces between hardware and software and operational performance requirements and design of the overall system.Apply sound engineering principles in the development of digital design/architecture for the target application. Works with guidance from an FPGA architect to support advanced digital architecture and design.Participate in on-going technical discussions and code reviews. Possibly including supporting technical reviews and presentations both internally and externally to customersDevelop estimates for your own task duration supporting the development of a project schedule with the team using Agile or other methods.WORK ENVIRONMENT:Location: Fort Collins COSome travel domestic and international for short periods of time may be requiredQUALIFICATIONS:Strong VHDL knowledge with an emphasis on using language features towards elegant maintainable and testable designs preferably using Xilinx Vivado and Mentor Questasim tool sets.Proven ability to troubleshoot and use test equipment including but not limited to oscilloscopes logic analyzers spectrum analyzers JTAG debuggers.Experience with code repositories (GIT) and collaboration tools such as JIRA and Confluence.Excellent verbal and written communication skillsEXPERIENCE:At least 5 years experience in related industries working with real time embedded FPGA development in industrial applications. (3 years with Masters Degree)One or more of the following experiences (the more the better!):Development of self-checking test benches. Knowledge of methodology like VUnit and/or OSVVM is highly desirable Circuit design documentation and implementation of high-speed digital electronics FPGAs and embedded processor systemsStrong understanding of synchronous design practices and data flow management (FIFOs memories pipelining).Experience in signal and power integrity analysis of digital/FPGA designs.Experience with Xilinx FPGAs and SoCs with a focus on Zynq-7000 series and Zynq-UltraScale MPSoCExperience with AXI bus interfaces for software control and data movementExperience with virtual machines and Ubuntu/Linux as a development environmentPython and TCL scripting knowledge is highly desirableExperience in developing specifications and resource requirements for digital/FPGA designsFamiliarity with I2C SPI PCIe Ethernet USB DDR3/4 and various standard IP coresEDUCATION:A Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering Systems Engineering Computer Science (or similar) technical degree.COMPENSATION: As required by multiple state pay transparency laws Advanced Energy provides a reasonable range of compensation for each job posting. Actual compensation is influenced by an array of factors including but not limited to skill set level of experience and specific office location.
