Job Description
DescriptionThe Emergency Management Specialist is responsible for the development implementation coordination and maintenance of various emergency preparedness response recovery and mitigation plans and activities for the Denton County Emergency Management Program.Examples of DutiesAssists in the development maintenance and implementation of hazard mitigation plans projects and grants to reduce long-term risk to Denton County communities.Assists in maintenance of the radio tower mobile command unit technology and radio cache.Develops and maintains a state of readiness for the warehouse vehicle fleet and to include inventory management.Assists the Emergency Management Senior Specialist in planning emergency preparedness drills exercises and trainings.Assists in the development and maintenance of job aids standard operating guidelines and procedures related to emergency management plans and Emergency Operations Center activities.Attends public education events seminars conferences workshops classes lectures etc. to enhance and maintain knowledge of trends and developments in the field of emergency management.Prepares Emergency Management plans and documents for Denton County.Serve on a rotational on-call basis to activate EOC 24/7/365 as required by emergency and/or disaster situations that may require emergency management assistance.Assists in the instruction of preparedness programs related to emergency management.Corresponds (written/verbal) with OEM internal and external stakeholders at various levels.Organizes coordinates and schedules meetings with OEM stakeholders.Provides administrative support to Emergency Administration Manager (EAM/EMC).Regular and punctual attendance is required.Performs other related duties as required.Minimum QualificationsHigh School Diploma or GED required for this position and a minimum of two years of experience in fire law enforcement emergency medical services emergency management CERT/Volunteer management and training; or an equivalent combination of education and related experience.Basic certifications from the Federal Emergency Management Agency required at time of hire. IS-100 IS-200 IS-700 and IS-800.ICS-300 and ICS-400 preferred.Possession of a valid drivers license.
