REQUIREMENTS AND PREFERENCESThe Broward County Board of County Commissioners is seeking qualified candidates for Emergency Management Specialist Senior for the Office of Emergency Management.We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated professional to serve in a senior-level role focused on the development enhancement and implementation of emergency management plans and programs. This position ensures alignment with current County State and Federal emergency management regulations and guidelines.The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting the execution of procedures and initiatives outlined in the Countys Comprehensive Emergency Management Plan (CEMP). Management may assign additional functions related to the type of work of the job as necessary.Manages the organized analysis planning decision-making and assignment of resources to mitigate prepare for respond to and to recover from the effects of all hazards.Builds strong relationships and maintains them to achieve successful outcomes handling the complexities of an emergency or disaster event; maintains relationships with municipal governments the State Emergency Management Division and the Federal Emergency Management Agency.Creates plans policies and procedures conducts exercises in preparation hurricane season; coordinates with other agencies to prepare for an emergency; leads in the review and update of the standard operating procedures in accordance with guidelines.Initiates rapid actions real time inter-agency coordination and decision making in a potentially stressful complex environment during emergency situations.Supervises employees and prepares performance appraisals for assigned subordinates.Functions as the duty officer on a rotating basis providing 24-hour emergency coverage for the Division; responds appropriately to requests and situations requiring additional intervention.Participates in training and continuing education to enhance own knowledge and professional development; designs and conducts training exercises.Performs related work as assigned.WORK ENVIRONMENTPhysical DemandsPhysical demands refer to the requirements for physical exertion and coordination of limb and body movement.Performs sedentary work that involves walking or standing some of the time and involves exerting up to 10 pounds of force on a regular and recurring basis or sustained keyboard operations.Unavoidable Hazards (Work Environment)Unavoidable hazards refer to the job conditions that may lead to injury or health hazards even though precautions have been taken.None.SPECIAL INFORMATIONCompetenciesBusiness InsightApplies knowledge of business and the marketplace to advance the organizations goals.
