The dual emergency medicine (EM) and hospitalist (HM) physician provides comprehensive medical care to patients in both the emergency department (ED) and the hospital setting. This role requires experience in emergency medicine as well as inpatient care, allowing for seamless transitions and continuity of care. This is a great opportunity for someone who has practiced both EM and hospital medicine. The HM portion mainly consists of admissions, discharges, and rounding on patients. Qualifications and Requirements:Medical degree (MD or DO) from an accredited medical schoolBoard certification or eligibility in either emergency medicine (EM), internal medicine (IM) or family medicine (FM) Valid state medical license (Kentucky) or the ability to obtain oneExperience in both emergency medicine and hospital medicine is preferred but may not be required for all positionsStrong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teamsAvailability to work various shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidaysEmergency Medicine:Provide timely and high-quality medical care to patients in the emergency departmentDepartment is low acuity and sees around 1 patient per hourAssess, diagnose, and treat patients with acute injuries or illnesses in an efficient mannerConduct thorough evaluations, perform physical examinations, and order appropriate diagnostic testsStabilize critically ill or injured patients and coordinate their transfer, if necessaryHospital Medicine:Round on patients AdmissionsDischargesCoordinate and communicate with specialists, nurses, and other healthcare professionals involved in patient careEnsure accurate and up-to-date documentation of patient encounters and progress in medical recordsWant to learn more about this dual opportunity?
