DESCRIPTION OF WORK This is a full-time, seasonal position that typically runs for 6 to 8 months during the fall and winter seasons to assist clients in the process of applying for heating assistance. In this role, you will have the opportunity to process initial benefit applications and CRISIS applications for the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP). After receiving on-the-job training, your duties will include interviewing clients, acting as a liaison with heating vendors, and reviewing and completing applications received to recommend approval or disapproval of benefits consistent with federal and state regulations. The majority of this job is completion work through data entry. The work assignments are limited in scope and work is reviewed for completeness, accuracy, and adherence to the program regulations. The season runs from approximately October to April, but employment may begin as early as September and last until June.Work hours are 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 60-minute lunch. This may change based on operational needs. Overtime and travel as operationally necessaryTelework: This position may be eligible to telework part time. Specific details of the telework schedule will be discussed during the interview process. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Northampton CAO. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time. Additional details may be provided during the interview.WORK CONDITIONS: Assigned duties are performed in a controlled office environment. In counties with district offices, employees may be reassigned to different work sites due to operational needs. Reassignments will be made in compliance with contract language.Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable. REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY QUALIFICATIONSMinimum Experience and Training Requirements:Two years of experience in general office work which included interviewing the public; orAny equivalent combination of experience and training.Other Requirements:You must meet the PA residency requirement.
