Enforcement Operations Specialist, Fraud & Scams

We are seeking an Enforcement Operations Specialist, Fraud & Scams to support our client's team. The hourly rate for this position is expected to be between $120.00 120.00 per hour, depending on geographic location, experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate. Employment Type: Temporary, approximately 6 months.

Location: Remote (San Francisco preferred, flexible)

Job Summary

  • Support the Safeguards team's Strategic Response and Escalations function, reviewing user interactions for fraud and scam-related policy violations
  • Assess credibility, scope, and severity of fraud and scam activity across user exchanges
  • Apply established referral criteria to escalate cases to appropriate internal and external parties, ensuring timely, complete, and accurate documentation
  • Build subject matter expertise in fraud and scam policy areas, including adjacent violation types
  • Support general enforcement work across the full range of policies as team needs require
  • Apply established workflows and referral thresholds with precision, escalating ambiguous cases rather than resolving them unilaterally
  • Maintain rigorous case records and reasoning that can withstand legal, regulatory, and external review
  • Collaborate with Strategy Analysts, Policy Managers, Threat Intelligence Investigators, and Legal to identify emerging fraud trends, flag policy gaps, support classifier refinement, and adapt referral criteria as the landscape evolves
  • Handle customer communications and appeals related to policy enforcement
  • Contribute to post-incident reviews and help translate cases into process improvements
  • Triage and respond to cross-functional requests

Requirements

  • Sound, defensible judgment on high-stakes decisions where criteria don't fully resolve the case
  • Ability to work steadily with sensitive or disturbing material
  • Quick learner, adaptable to changing environments
  • Proactive with strong independent work capability
  • Consistently meets deadlines under time pressure
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, particularly for external-facing writing
  • Strong collaborative instincts and judgment on when to escalate
  • Keen attention to detail and systematic approach to complex tasks
  • Genuine interest in AI safety and ethical technology development
  • Preferred: experience with fraud investigation, Trust & Safety, content moderation, threat assessment, crisis response, intelligence analysis, or law enforcement referral workflows
