This includes Manufacturing and Supply Chain support across all Blue Origin facilities.As part of a hardworking team of technicians you will perform Mechanical and Instrumentation tasks and process engine hardware for various spaceflight systems. You will share in the teams impact on engine integration and ground testing. As an Engine Technician you will be responsible for receiving and preparing engine hardware for testing integrating test articles onto the test stand and supporting engine test activities. You will support the Engines Business Unit and work hand-in-hand with the ground systems engineering and technician teams.This position is based in Van Horn TX. Being at the heart of Blue Origin operations the West Texas Site offers eligible employees additional attractive financial incentives to supplement their competitive base earnings including a living allowance and relocation assistance. Eligibility is based on the employees ability to permanently relocate to Van Horn TX.Additional Responsibilities:Assemble rocket engines and rocket engine components according to written procedures and engineering models for test and commercial operationsCoordinate and conduct hardware processing such as component assembly hardware maintenance and hardware inspectionsSet up and operate a wide range of precision calibrated tools including but not limited to torque wrenches micrometers calipers voltmeters 4-20mA calibration meters and thermocouple metersOperate ground support equipment in preparation for testMaintain inventory of tooling and equipmentSafely work with hazardous chemicals and high-pressure systemsPerform routine maintenance functions such as daily clean-up of work areas to support 5S FOD and ESDTravel Requirements:Minimum 10% travel required to other Blue Origin sites such as ATO OLS AFRLRelocation:Relocation assistance availableWe are looking for individuals to apply their technical expertise leadership skills and dedication to quality to positively impact safe human spaceflight. Passion for our mission and vision is required!Minimum Qualifications:Level 2:3 yearsof rocket engine and/or jet engine assembly and testing3 yearsof experience with engine instrumentation instruments (pressure transducers thermocouples delta pressures RTDs accelerometers strain gages)3 yearsreading/interpreting electrical schematics diagrams and P&IDProficient understanding of Data Acquisition SystemsProficient in building ground test instrumentation harnesses and proper use of crimp toolsLevel 3:5 yearsof rocket engine and/or jet engine assembly and testing5 yearsof experience with engine instrumentation instruments (pressure transducers thermocouples delta pressures RTDs accelerometers strain gages)5 yearsreading/interpreting electrical schematics diagrams and P&IDDemonstrated proficiency with Data Acquisition Systems sensors and instrumentation calibrationDemonstrated proficiency in building ground test instrumentation harnesses and proper use of crimp toolsBoth Levels:Must be a U.S. citizen or national U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder) or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.Ability to work with test and flight safety critical hardwareAbility to operate standard mechanical tools and shop fabrication equipmentFamiliar with tube fabrication (bend flare fittings etc.) and pressurized system safetyAbility to interpret engineering models drawings specifications written work instructions and test proceduresExperience performing mate/de-mate cleaning inspection assembly and testing of harnesses and electronic componentsAbility to lift 40 lbs.; work in adverse weather conditions; climb stairs and laddersAbility to work at heights when requiredBasic digital literacy (Windows Microsoft Office etc.)Strong verbal and written communication skillsAcceptable schedules: 8 days on x 6 days offAble to work either first or second shift as requiredPreferred Qualifications:Level 2:3 years experience in propulsion facility/system or launch vehicle operation integration or maintenanceLevel 3:5 years experience in propulsion facility/system or launch vehicle operation integration or maintenanceBoth Levels:Industry certification trade school training and/or degree in related fieldWorking knowledge of a variety of rocket propellants including Liquid Oxygen Liquid Hydrogen and other cryogenicsCertifications: IPC/WHMA-A-620 MIL-DTL-22520 NASA-STD-8739 J-STD-001 and/or ANSI/ESD S20.20Experience with large-scale low voltage wiring and WAGO push-in termination blocks (or similar)Experience/troubleshooting low voltage systems 4-20mA signals and thermocouplesLevel 3:Skilled in troubleshooting low voltage systems 4-20mA signals and thermocouplesExperience/fabricating cable harness assemblies (power signal and data)Level 3:Skilled in fabricating cable harness assemblies (power signal and data)Experience/handling aerospace and ESD-sensitive componentsLevel 3:Skilled in handling aerospace and ESD-sensitive componentsExperienced in handling large aerospace componentsExperience operating heavy lifting equipment such as cranes and forklifts around flight critical hardwareCulture StatementDont meet all desired requirements Studies have shown that some people are less likely to apply to jobs unless they meet every single desired qualification.
