Job Description SummaryThe Hot Gas Path and Combustion Materials Engineer will lead and support material and process development product qualifications cost reduction initiatives and material analysis requests to further gas turbine materials technology and quality. The Hot Gas Path and Combustion team focuses on casting joining and fabrication of nickel and steel alloys for components used in the combustion and beyond sections of a gas turbine.Job DescriptionRoles and ResponsibilitiesSupport materials selection for power generation components (blades vanes combustors)Monitor and analyze manufacturing processes (casting welding heat treatment coatings)Review quality control inspections and non-destructive testing evaluationsAssist with root cause analysis of material-related failures or defectsDocument test results prepare technical reports and maintain test recordsSupport new materials qualification programsParticipate in process development and optimization projectsHelp implement cost reduction initiatives while maintaining quality standardsResearch and evaluate new materials coatings or processing techniquesWork with design engineers to write or revise material specifications and requirementsInterface with suppliers on material certifications and quality issuesSupport manufacturing teams with troubleshooting and process improvementsRequired QualificationsBachelors degree with up to 2 years relevant experience Masters or Ph.D. degree in Engineering Materials Metallurgical Mechanical or related discipline from an accredited college or universityAbility to access and handle US Export Controlled informationDesired CharacteristicsUnderstanding of materials fundamentals (thermodynamics phase diagrams kinetics mechanical behavior)Familiarity with characterization techniques (SEM optical microscopy XRD mechanical testing)Understanding of metallography and microstructural analysisKnowledge of nickel or steel alloys and their strengthening / deformation mechanismsKnowledge of thermal barrier coatings oxidation coatings and wear coatingsFamiliarity with mechanical testing such as tensile fatigue and creepData analysis capabilities (Excel statistical software potentially Python/MATLABStrong organizational skills and demonstrated ability to drive projects to completionEffective at working independently on complex tasks and managing multiple priorities under tight deadlinesStrong verbal and written communication skillsAbility and willingness to work effectively as part of a high performance cross-functional team to drive impactful resultsStrong people skills to work with team members and support tasksThis role requires access to U.S. export-controlled information. Relocation Assistance Provided: YesFor candidates applying to a U.S. based position the pay range for this position is between $71600.00 and $107400.00. The Company pays a geographic differential of 110% 120% or 130% of salary in certain areas.
