Under guidance of the Engineering and Operations Leadership Team the program participant may be assigned to a team and/or work independently on specific projects engineering drawings and documentation calculations tools programs and processes.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:The list below describes a range of job accountabilities for our engineering interns. Specific assignments will be determined based on business needs at the time of assignment.Learn operational processes and procedureswhile assisting team in identifying process improvementsAssist with and/or or directly manage scope schedule and budget for certain capital projectsCreate and update drawings using programs such as AutoCAD and Microsoft VisioCreate flow charts and spreadsheets in support of projects and operationsUpdate and maintain engineering tools such as cost estimating worksheets or dilution calculatorsUpdate and maintain databases such as preferred contractor lists tank and equipment listsConduct operational and engineering analysis such as time studies capacities cost/benefit analysis.Help specify process equipment and provide documentation for project filesHelp analyze and evaluate manufacturing methods and standards.Help provide solutions to problems that adversely affect operator safety quality productivity and costWork with cross-functional teams including Operations Quality Technical Engineering and Supply Chain.Assist in development and documentation for PSM/RMP covered processes including MOCs and PSSRs.Assist in development and rollout of Maintenance Management System / Preventative Maintenance.Assist in development and troubleshooting of controls systems including Allen Bradley and IgnitionAssist Lean manufacturing / Six Sigma training and continuous improvement implementationABOUT YOU:Completed two years in engineering manufacturing or chemistry related degreeExcellent written and verbal communication skillsMust be detail oriented and possess excellent follow up skillsWorking knowledge of computer application software (MS Office JDE etc)Training will be provided as neededMust be flexible and able to work overtime when requiredMust be organized and work well with constant priority changesMust be able to work independently with minimal supervisionAbility to effectively work with employees at all levels within the organization and external customers suppliers and vendorsPhysical work environment is typically indoors at a consistent temperature and occasionally outdoors with exposure to varying degrees of hot and cold environments.Must be authorized to work in the United States.Ability to travel between Hawkins facilities typically within the Twin Cities metroPHYSICAL REQUIREMENTSAbility to sit stand bend stoop reach ascend or descend stairs and walk for extended periods of time in an office or manufacturing setting or outdoors including areas where conditions may include odors varying temperatures humidity and moderate levels of noise.Ability to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) as required by the facility and or jobThe employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.Ability to safety use power hoist pallet transport trucks powered forklifts and banding machines and or company vehicles.Close vision and hand eye coordination required to efficiently and safely perform job.Expected Compensation: $20.00-23.00/hour.
