Lead Engineering Technician at Intuitive

Primary Function of PositionThe Lead Engineering Technician is responsible for overseeing daily operations and ensuring tasks are completed efficiently by engineering technicians in the debug team. This position works closely with engineering teams to resolve manufacturing quality and process addition the lead engineering technician assists with training and mentoring new technicians maintaining tooling fixtures and a clean well-organized workspace. A strong sense of shared responsibility and shared reward is required as well as a commitment to high product quality.  Essential Job Duties Manage daily operations under the guidance of a production supervisor.Lead by example and ensure technicians are motivated engaged and have all resources needed for maximum productivity.Assist in training mentoring and professional development for debug technicians.Reduce quality notification backlog as well as drive other process improvement projects.Actively participate in quality improvement initiatives with engineering and quality teamsCreate and distribute daily production reports that include performance to plan quality issues and equipment/fixture issuesProvide process feedback to the manufacturing engineering and training teams.PL and VR Tracking and Managing.Driving meetings for trends or issues.Prepare and present production and/or quality data as assigned by management.Provide training plan for employees to ensure job rotation.Communicate with Mfg. Leads to identify the priorities of production line support.Monitor team-member performance (safety quality efficiency attendance) and escalate issues to management as needed.Crosstrain or mentor others in areas of expertise (as needed).Provide Manufacturing Systems Production support.Other duties as assigned by management/supervisors.Qualifications : Required Skills and ExperienceMinimum 5 years of component level troubleshooting experience on complex FPGA/Microprocessor-based Printed Circuit Assemblies (PCAs).In-depth knowledge of Intuitive surgical systems manufacturing processes and equipment.Proven ability to identify troubleshoot and propose solutions to electromechanical failure modes.Proficiency in using diagnostic tools to troubleshoot manufacturing escalations and quality notifications.Strong analytical skills to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues.Ability to lead mentor and manage a team of technicians including delegating tasks and providing guidance.Effective verbal and written communication skills for interacting with team members engineers and other stakeholders.Ability to perform complex failure analysis using proper engineering FMEA methods.Familiarity with Six-Sigma methods and ability to apply LEAN concepts.Ability to interpret and/or develop queries for data collection and process improvement analysis.Effective use of troubleshooting and measurement equipment like oscilloscopes multi-meters function generators test platforms.Excellent engineering technical documentation skills and ability to convey complex analyses cross-functionally.Ability to drive change through leadership initiative project establishment presentation skills and cross-functional approval/acceptance.Self-starter and motivated to work in a fast paced and dynamic environment.Proficient in MS Word Excel PowerPoint and Outlook.Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.Ability to travel up to 10% of the time.Required Education and Training BS in Electrical Engineering or equivalent combination of experience and military training.Working Conditions Standard working hours with potential for overtime depending on business needs.Fast-paced manufacturing environment.Preferred Skills and Experience Hands-on troubleshooting experience is preferred.Ability to work independently with minimum supervision.Experience with Agile SAP MES and SPC or equivalent tools.Additional Information : Due to the nature of our business and the role please note that Intuitive and/or your customer(s) may require that you show current proof of vaccination against certain diseases including COVID-19.  Details can vary by role.Intuitive is an Equal Opportunity Employer. We provide equal employment opportunities to all qualified applicants and employees and prohibit discrimination and harassment of any type without regard to race sex pregnancy sexual orientation gender identity national origin color age religion protected veteran or disability status genetic information or any other status protected under federal state or local applicable laws.Mandatory NoticesU.S. Export Controls Disclaimer:  In accordance with the U.S. Export Administration Regulations (15 CFR 743.13(b)) some roles at Intuitive Surgical may be subject to U.S. export controls for prospective employeeswho are nationals from countries currently on embargo or sanctions status.Certain information you provide as part of the application will be used for purposes of determining whether Intuitive Surgical will need to (i) obtain an export license from the U.S. Government on your behalf (note: the governments licensing process can take 3 to 6 months) or (ii) implement a Technology Control Plan (TCP) (note: typically adds 2 weeks to the hiring process).  For any Intuitive role subject to export controls final offers are contingent upon obtaining an approved export license and/or an executed TCP prior to the prospective employeesstart date which may or may not be flexible and within a timeframe that does not unreasonably impede the hiring need.
